We Remember
KORT, Ruth Frances
August 12, 1927 — July 19, 2023
On July 19, 2023, Ruth Kort (nee Wersch) of West Kelowna passed away peacefully at 95 years of age, surrounded by her seven children: Elaine (Harry), Gary (Marica), Wayne (Gail), Dennis (Jennifer), Dianne (Trevor), Rodney and Kathleen (Dean). She is also survived by her dear friend, Brenda Willis, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry Kort, after 73 years of marriage.
Ruth was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was living in Moosehorn, Manitoba, where she met Henry Kort. They married in 1945 and a few years later purchased a farm near Moosehorn where they farmed for 33 years. Ruth and Henry’s life centred around farm, church, and family. In 1980, they sold their farm and followed their dream of moving to British Columbia. Henry and Ruth loved the outdoors and travelled throughout BC. Ruth was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church and was very involved in church activities.
The family would like to thank Dr. O’Neill and all the excellent healthcare professionals who provided care to Mom over the last several months.
To honour Ruth’s final wishes, memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Red Cross, or Care and Share, an organization benefiting Guatemalan children. Envelopes will be available at the Memorial Service.
A Memorial Service will be held on FRIDAY, JULY 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.

Dear Elaine & Harry,
Please accept my sincere condolences both to you and your siblings in the passing of your dear Mother.
Thanks to Elaine I was able to view the Memorial Service today via livestream.
Ruth & I shared a close friendship over many years and I will miss that. Through her I learned much about her family.
In hearing your loving and kind memories of her today made me feel as if I know each of you personally.
