Born on December 5, 1923 in Blaine Lake, SK, Evelyn passed away peacefully in her sleep at Village at Mill Creek, in Kelowna, BC on Monday, October 5, 2015 at the age of 91. Survived by sisters Agnes Elenko of Biggar, SK and Eva Benson of San Luis Obispo, CA; as well as her daughters Linda (Wayne) McIntosh of Kelowna, BC and Alexandra Kostyniuk of Grand Prairie AB; son Irvine (Leeann) Kostyniuk of Port Coquitlam, BC; grandchildren Andrew (Caragh), Tanya (Richard), Cory (Jackie), Curtis, Cindy (Brian), Colin and Kristine (Duane); great grandchildren Claire, Aaden, Kieran, Makenzie, Nicholas, Harmony, Caiden and Ashton, and numerous family members. Evelyn lived most of her life in Saskatoon where she and her husband Nicholas raised their family. The smell of apple pies, cinnamon buns, cabbage rolls and so much good food was always there to welcome all who came over. In 2002 following the passing of her husband Nicholas (in 2001), Evelyn moved to Ladner, BC to be closer to family there and in 2004 settled with family in Kelowna, BC. A family Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, www.bccancer.bc.ca or the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.bc.ca. I will always remember the great stories Baba told and her laughter whilst telling them. She was a formidable lady, who will be sorely missed by all her friends and family. I truly believe she is with Gigi now and at peace.
