We Remember

KOTHLOW, Ethel

January 27, 1931 — April 10, 2023

At the age of 92, Ethel Kothlow passed away, while surrounded by family, on April 10, 2023, in Kelowna, BC. She now joins her husband, Alfred Kothlow, who passed away on December 25, 2001.

Ethel was devoted to her family, she will be dearly missed by her children, William (Edite), Alan (Shelley), Greg (Cheryl), Gordon (Maria), and Kevin (Melaney); her 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as by many extended family members & friends.

Born January 27, 1931, in the village of Roblin, Manitoba, Ethel was raised in North Vancouver, BC, where she spent most of her life, before moving to Kelowna, BC. Ethel strongly believed in giving back to her community. She belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 60 years, and she is in their hall of fame. The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization uniting fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness, and hope. Ethel worked diligently supporting both the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the BC Cancer Society.

Fiercely independent, Ethel will be remembered for her love of life. Our world is a sadder place without her, and her memory will live forever in our hearts.

The family would like to send a special thank-you to her son Al and to her daughter-in-law Shelley for providing Mom with such loving care.

A Funeral Service will be held to honour Ethel on TUESDAY, APRIL 25, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. Following, a graveside interment will take place at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC.

    Gone from this earth yet she will never be forgotten. Sincere sympathies to all of you. We remember Ethel and Al so fondly many many years ago at all soccer games in the early 80’s and roadtrips for the BC summer games in Cranbrooke.
