We Remember

KRANTZ, Barbara Anne

Barbara Anne Krantz (nee Hiebert) of Winfield, BC passed away on September 20th, 2015. Born in Roblin, Manitoba on February 26, 1941, Barb spent most of her life in BC after her marriage in 1958. She spent her life working hard, caring for other people, and her home and heart were refuges for the many people she touched with her kindness and quick smile over the many years she spent in the Okanagan. Barbara’s life was rich with love, friendship, and creativity. She was a painter, pianist, gardener, seamstress, and Union Rep, among many other things, her life a stunning example of goodness and vitality. She didn’t squander a moment of any day she had on this earth, nor any opportunity to care for someone in need of support. She leaves behind to grieve her loss many family members and friends, including her three grandchildren, Caley Krantz (Preston Hunter), Brodie Neri-Krantz (Alanah), and McKinley Hellenes (Neil Schulz); Great grand-children Ivy, Kyla, Niobi and Dominic; Sisters Ruth Warnock, Grace Bisceglia (Peter),  Judy Millett (Ron Beauchamp) and brother Glen Hiebert (Lorraine) and her many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  She was pre-deceased by husband Melvin Krantz, daughter Leeanne Krantz, son Kelly Krantz and brothers Richard Hiebert and Ronald Hiebert.  Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength that will stay with us forever. We are better people for having been loved by her, and will carry her heart within our own hearts all of our lives.

The funeral will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Bottom Wood Lake Road on Saturday, Sept. 26th at 1:00 pm. An open-house will follow at Barbara’s home for all of her friends and family to celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association, or to a charity of your choice. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

Condolences

  • Elizabeth Matkovic says:

I am so sorry for your loss. It was such a shock to hear the sad news about Barbs passing. I worked with Barb for about 20 years and am glad that I had the privilege to work with her and get to know her, she truly was a kind and lovely person, and I was so happy to call her my spiritual sister. I hope you can find solace in all the happy memories shared as family throughout the years. She will be missed terribly. Again my sincerest sympathies and heartfelt prayers to the family. Rev 21:4.

  • Brad Field says:

I had the great pleasure of working with Barb for over 15 years and in that time she became a wonderful friend. She always had a smile on her face, a kind word to say and was prepared to help anyone she saw was in need. She will be missed by all. Rest in Peace Barb!
