We Remember
KREITZ, Christel
April 6, 1941 — October 12, 2023
Christel Kreitz went to her heavenly home on October 12, 2023, at the age of 82 years of age.
On Palm Sunday, April 6, 1941, in Berlin, Germany, Christel was born to parents Erich and Charlotte. She attended both elementary and high school, after which she attended business school, leading to her work as office manager at the Evangelical Konsistorium of Berlin and Brandenburg.
In December 1963, she met the love of her life, Edgar, and they were married in February 1966, on the date of her Father’s fiftieth birthday. In May 1966, Edgar and Christel immigrated to Canada, finally making their home in Kelowna, British Columbia. They celebrated the births of their daughter Brenda in November 1968 and their daughter Rita in November 1970.
Christel’s faith was of great importance to her. She valued the relationships she built at Christ Lutheran Church, where she volunteered and sang in the choir. She worked with Edgar in his electrical business, and in 1981, began work as the secretary of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she ensured that the people of the congregation always came first. After twenty busy, fulfilling years, she retired. Christel, along with her husband Edgar, enjoyed travelling, spending time with friends, and sailing on beautiful Okanagan Lake. Her grandsons were of primary importance to her. Christel was a devoted Oma, who never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren.
Christel is predeceased by her husband, Edgar, and her parents. She is survived by daughters Brenda (Dr. Yuri) Quintana of Boston, Massachusetts, and Rita (Brad) Berget; and her beloved grandsons Nicolas Quintana, and Logan & Kenny Clarke. Surviving relatives from Germany are her brother Ulrich (Sigrid), and brothers-in-law Walter (Helga), Gert (Edith), and Dieter (Uta), as well as her numerous nephews and nieces.
Our deepest gratitude and thanks go to Dr. Daniel Obedkoff and Patti Flansburg, to the Interior Health Palliative Care Team, and to our many caring friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Christel’s memory can be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice House, or a charity of your choice.

Dear Brenda and Family,
I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. You were such a thoughtful, supportive, and giving daughter. My thoughts and sympathy are with you.
Blessings, Bonnie
Thomas Kersten
