We Remember
KRIENKE, Janet (nee Howson)
—
Janet was born January 3, 1947 and passed on February 25, 2016 at age 69. She was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan to Arnold Scott and Ruby Howson. Janet was raised and attended school in Quill Lake where she met her future husband Ken Krienke. Survived by her loving family: daughter Kimberly Lane of Red Deer, AB; son Keith Krienke (Shirley) of Langdon, AB; grandchildren Kale and Claire Krienke; step-grandchildren: Brogan, Breanne, Jarrett and Jordanna; sister Heather Labossiere (Roland) of Kelowna; nieces and nephews: Laurie Dore, Jonathon Stuparyk and Stacy Stuparyk. Predeceased by her husband Ken, father Arnold Scott Howson, mother Ruby Weston and infant brother Brian Howson.
They spent many years raising a family and moving around Western Canada, from Snow Lake, Manitoba to Sherwood Park, Alberta. They put down roots when they purchased the hotel in Benalto, Alberta. After a fire consumed the business, they pulled up stakes and moved to British Columbia, settling in Kelowna and taking on a new career as property managers. She tackled this job with a passion and had a personal connection with many of her tenants.
Janet had a lifelong love of sharing her time with family and friends: a night of dancing with Kenny, a dinner or gathering with friends (with a glass of wine!) – she made any gathering a more festive event. Her grandkids became her pride and joy; she was a proud Grandma who was always talking them up and sharing pictures. She loved to travel and in recent years was able to go on a Spanish cruise as well as fulfill a lifelong dream of visiting Scotland, along with her cousin Karen. A loyal friend, loving wife, caring mother and grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.ca. We were saddened to hear of her passing.
Please know that old friends that you don’t know are thinking of you as Janet and Kens descendants. We knew the Krienke family well, and in fact your Dad, Ken Krienke came along with his best friend Dwight Telfod, to get me off a bus to meet up with my future husband, many stories and memories for us all. Take care of each other and share the stories of your folks, they and you are precious ! Healing prayers and love to you all. Sylvia Telford
