KROSCHINSKY, Frances “Dolly”

December 29, 1932 — January 23, 2023

Frances Kroschinsky (known as Dolly) died in her sleep on January 23, 2023, at 90 years of age. She lived most recently at the independent living facility, Northwood, in Kelowna, BC.

Born December 29th, 1932, in Qu’appelle, Saskatchewan to Frank and Frances Gruber, she was the third of five children. As there were already 2 Frances’ in the house, she was called Dolly, and the name stayed with her all her life. Dolly moved to Kelowna at 15, and began her work career at a cardboard box factory. At 19, she met Mathias “Ernest” Kroschinsky at a dance hall alongside Okanagan Lake, and the two married three years later, in June 1954. They raised 4 children, emphasizing kindness to others, hard work, and the importance of an education. Dolly and Ernie both worked at the MacLean and Fitzpatrick fruit packing house till it closed, then they retired. Dolly will be remembered for her love of making sweets, cakes, dollhouses, crocheted things, artex, ceramics, and gardening.

Dolly was predeceased by her spouse, Ernest Kroschinsky; her daughter, Ramona Kroschinsky; her parents, Frank and Frances Gruber; her in-laws, Joe and Elizabeth Kroschinsky; her brothers, Lorne Gruber and Andrew Gruber; her brothers-in-law, Verne (Mickey) Kroschinsky, Gerald Kroschinsky, Ladislaw (Laddie) Kroschinsky, Fred Specht; and her sisters-in-law, Marlene Schneider (née Kroschinsky), Lorraine Kroschinsky (née Mallach), Audrey Kroschinsky (née Roe), Janette Gruber (née Wheeler).

Dolly will be missed by her great-granddaughter, Madision Auch; granddaughter, Kylie Auch; daughters, Rebecca Leeper (Kirk) and Natalie Kroschinsky (Michael); son, Wayne Kroschinsky; and sisters Marie (Toots), Ross (Dayton), and Irene Specht (née Gruber); as well as by many nieces, nephews, and many, many grandnieces and nephews.

Services will be  held on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2023, at 11: 00 AM, at CORPIS CRISTI CHURCH (formerly St Theresa’s Catholic Church, 750 Rutland Road). Interment will be at St Theresa’s Cemetery at a later date.
