We Remember
KRUPER, William Robert
June 6, 1938 — September 10, 2023
On September 10, 2023, with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bill Kruper (The Old Man) husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta to parents Daisy & Henry Kruper, Bill was the oldest child of 6 children: Joan, Sharon, Linda, Wayne, and Avis.
Bill met his first wife, Carol Sinclair, in Edmonton, Alberta. They were married for 19 years and had 4 children: Daryl, Bradley, Jeffrey, and Deena. Together they raised them in Edmonton & Sherwood Park, Alberta. Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Carol, in the fall of 1978.
In January 1979, Bill married Gerri Dauphinais. Bill and Gerri moved to Kelowna / Lake Country in 1981, where they settled into their life together for the next 42 years. During this time, they travelled in their motorhome throughout the southern USA and joined the Newmar owners association. Dividing their time between travelling and enjoying Lake Country, they continued their adventures working at remote locations throughout Canada, USA, and the Caribbean. Bill balanced his Electrical Red Seal designation with many year’s experience building power plants in these locations.
Bill retired in 2006, during his retirement he loved to travel and enjoy the snowbird life. Bill was an avid sports fan, with a deep love for the Edmonton Oilers and baseball. He played baseball for many years, and was even offered a scholarship in California during his youth. Bill’s passion for the game never wavered, and he continued to excel in Fast Ball at a high level well into his 50s. He enjoyed every game to its fullest.
During his morning coffee, his routine was crossword puzzles and reading the local newspaper. He enjoyed trying his luck with scratch-and-win tickets, always hoping for the big win. Bill also enjoyed spending 29 years with his African Grey parrot, Spencer.
Bill is survived by his wife, Gerri; his siblings, Joan (Bob), Sharon, Linda (Alvin), and Wayne; his children, Daryl (Brenda), Brad (Lorraine), Deena (Marcel), and Jeff; his grandchildren, Kathyrn (Mike) Wells, Lauren (Aubrey) Uretsky, Rachelle (Travis) Tsielos, Aysha (Shannon) Pettigrew, Kristen (Blake) Kruper, and Ryan (Hanna) Kruper; and his great-grandchildren, Joey, Griffin, Scarlett, Grey, Isabella, Blair, Summer, Eve, and Autumn. Bill was predeceased by his parents Daisy and Henry Kruper, and by his youngest sister, Avis Watson.
In lieu of flowers, go buy yourself a few scratch and wins, cuz that is what the Old Man would have done!
