We Remember

KRUPKA, Victor

February 9, 1939 — December 20, 2013

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Vic Krupka.

Victor leaves to mourn his wife of 50 years Eugenia, sons Kirby (Sharla) and Cameron (Treena), grandson Bryan, and granddaughters Karly, Sydney and Samantha, his Brother Len (Rose), and Sisters Mary (Gord), Kay (Ralph), Helen (Don), Nancy, Sister-in-law Anne as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Vic was predeceased by his mother and father Rose and Frank Krupka, as well as his brother Mike and brother-in-law Al.

Victor Krupka was born February 9, 1939; the sixth of seven children to Frank and Rose Krupka.   The family owned homestead farm land starting in the area of Bellis, Alberta. He later moved the farm to Warspite.

In 1962 Vic married Eugenia Kuziemsky.  They were well suited for each other.  Nice and short.  During their first year together they took a trip to Europe where they camped their way across eleven European countries and came back with memories to last a lifetime. On their honeymoon to the US they bought starter golf sets and began a lifelong pursuit of the game of golf.  Vic attained considerable skills and consistently played to a 7 handicap.

Victor enrolled at the University of Alberta and received his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1960, followed by a Bachelor of Education degree in 1967.

In 1973, Vic graduated from the University of Oregon with an MBA degree.  He accomplished this by moving the family to Oregon for 15 months, including 2 summer sessions.

Once back at the Grande Prairie College, he continued his education and received his RIA (CMA), which is a public accounting designation.  All of this he accomplished with a full time job, and a family  …   and sports!

In 1974 Vic obtained a job with the Grande Prairie Regional College as instructor.  By 1978 he was promoted to head of the Department of Finance.

In 1982 he left the college and opened up a public accounting office, which he operated with his wife, Genie, until 2004.

Vic started his retirement plan in approximately 2000. By 2004 Vic sold his practice to his son Kirby who continues to operate the firm and all the challenges that it provides.

Vic and Genie also curled throughout their adult life, and like everything they put lots of work into it and found success at many levels.  It became an ideal companion sport to golf because as one season was ending, the other was just about to begin.  Vic and Genie met many very good friends competing and socializing at the curling rinks.  Vic was able to compete in the Alberta Provincial championships on four separate occasions, twice as a skip.

In 2001, Vic and Genie bought a winter home in Mesa, Arizona where they spent up to 6 months each year playing golf under the winter sun.  They both thoroughly enjoyed their time in the US and have met many friends with whom they are very close.

In all Vic’s accomplishments in life one thing was consistent – hard work.

Work hard and play hard he would always say.  He lived his life by it.
