We Remember
LAROSE, Neil Arthur
—
December 31, 1936 – May 27, 2021
Mr. Neil Arthur LaRose of Kelowna BC, passed away peacefully into God’s arms on May 27, 2021, at the age of 84.
Neil was a New Year’s Eve baby born December 31, 1936. He was raised in Stettler AB. In his teenage years, he moved to Calgary AB, and it was there that he would meet his bride to be at the North Hill Nazarene Youth Group. Neil and Myrtle were married on June 29, 1957. In November 1969, this couple and their 3 young children made their way to the Okanagan so that Neil could pursue his career with the city of Kelowna as a Draftsman. He later would continue his career with the BC Assessment Authority until retiring after 32 years.
Those fortunate enough to know Neil would quickly come to understand that he was a devoted Christian man, and he had a heart for his church. When there was a building project taking place, Neil was eager to be involved. Their family attended the Free Methodist Church and the Nazarene Church in Kelowna. Neil loved carpentry projects and could often be found helping family, friends, and neighbors. With his keen eye and attention to detail, you could rest assured you were in capable hands. But it wasn’t all work… you could often find Neil enjoying rides on his motorcycle, tending to his yard, walking his beloved “Muffin”, and most definitely camping!! He loved music, particularly the old hymns containing wonderful unchanging messages. We will fondly remember his sense of humour. He loved to laugh, playfully tease, and tell jokes. During date nights with Myrtle, you could find these Kelowna Rocket fans enjoying their season tickets cheering on their favourite hockey team.
Neil is lovingly remembered and held deep in the hearts of his wife Myrtle; daughters Cheryl Hunter (Darrell), Brenda Patterson (Randall); son Calvin LaRose (Darcee); grandchildren Stephanie, Breanna, Christopher, Emily, Alyssa, Michael, Brayden, and Austin; his 7 great-grandchildren; sister Eileen Newsham (Claude); and numerous extended family members. He was predeceased by parents Louie and Ruth LaRose and brothers Irvin and Donald.
Words cannot describe how grateful we are for the compassion, care, and concern from Dr. H Boshoff. Dr. Boshoff was so much more than Neil’s Doctor. He was his friend. Our family would also like to recognize and express appreciation for the care and compassion shown by the staff at the Kelowna Hospice House. Your kindness was extended to not only Neil but our entire family.
A private family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
