LARSON, Thomas “Larry” Lawrence

July 12, 1953 — August 10, 2022

After a long, hard-fought battle with cancer, Larry passed away at Kelowna General Hospital with his wife and son by his side.  He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 41 years, Brenda; son Matt (Jessica); grandchildren Liam and Madison; brothers Earl and Carl; and sisters Karin and Judy.  Larry was predeceased by his parents Nelvin and Ethel; brothers George, Allan, Raymond, Nelse, Cecil, and Ricky; and sisters Becky, Jean, Irene, Viola, and Fern.

Larry was born in Prince George, the youngest of 16 children.  He wore many hats throughout his life.  First and always, a mechanic, because of his love of muscle cars, especially the Dodge Challenger. Larry’s first job was as a grease monkey at Happy Bear Safety Service.  He then went on to work at Rutland Tire with his brother Earl.  Then on to Western Frame and Alignment for a period of time, after which he moved on to Western Star.  It was at the closing of Western Star that he started a new look with a carpenter hat, and started up with SRI Homes in Lake Country, as an assembler and jack-of-all-trades, where he remained for thirty years until his retirement in 2019.

Larry was a great friend to many, always there to lend a hand or start up a chat with a beer on the front porch.  His smile, sense of humour, and many stories about the ‘guys at the shop’ are forever engraved in our memories.

Larry was a loving husband, father, and grampa.  That is the hat he was most proud to wear.  He was a gentleman in the truest form of the word.  His warm hugs and awesome smile were so genuine and his love so real. Rest in peace, free from pain, until we meet again, we will remain your family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022,  at 1:00 PM,  at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter. Light refreshments to follow the ceremony.
