It is with heavy hearts that we announce Charlotte Lawrence passed away, surrounded by family, on February 9, 2023, taking her last breath in her daughters’ arms.
Charlotte was predeceased by her parents, John and Barb (née Bachmeier) Hagel. She is survived by her husband Hec; daughter Darla (Ward); son Brett (Kim); stepdaughters Tracey and Andrea (Mario); grandchildren Kassandra, Kyla, Christian (Heather), Avery, Brandon, Will, and Nicolas; and great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sister Linda (Brian) and sisters-in-law Bev (John) and Marg (Dave); and her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Charlotte was born in Calgary, AB on April 27, 1949, and shortly after, her family moved to Kelowna, BC. After graduating from Kelowna Secondary School, she married her first husband and was blessed to become a mother to her daughter, Darla, and three years later to her son, Brett. While raising her children, she worked various jobs. It was after she met her second husband, Hec, and she began her career at Agriforest Technologies, where she found her passion for plants and flowers, especially her love for red tuberous begonias. Charlotte and Hec married in 1979, and she was blessed again with her stepdaughters, Tracey and Andrea.
Everyone who knew Charlotte knew she was beautiful inside and out. From a young age she loved the Okanagan sunshine, and she was always sunkissed and took great pride in her appearance. She loved her shoes, jewellery, and makeup. However, she was even more beautiful on the inside; she was gracious, loving, and accepting of everyone. In her early to late forties, Charlotte began suffering from chronic pain, but she did her best not to let that impact the amount of light she brought into people’s lives. Charlotte loved life, and If there was one thing she taught to the people that she loved, it was never to give up. Charlotte continued to make her friends and family a priority and was always there to talk regardless of the time. She treasured the middle-of-the-night talks with her nephew Sean Baran as well as the visits and adventures with her cousin and best friend, Cheryl Tanaka.
There will be no funeral service, by request. A celebration of life will be held this summer. In lieu of sending the family flowers, we ask that you buy yourself or someone you love flowers, or a beer, to commemorate Charlotte.

Charlie was one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I have ever known. So sorry for your loss Hec and family. Charlie loved easily and she was easy to love. She will be missed by many. xoxo
Charlie you were chosen by my brother, but I am blessed to have gained a friend and a sister. You came into our lives, laughed with us, cried with us, danced with us, made us smile, made us feel special. I will be forever thankful to have met you and I will miss you. My deepest condolences to Hec and all the family.
We will hold Charlie in fond memory for her gentle nature and positive outlook she had and shared with
