LAWRENCE, Margery Kay (nee Mouat)
July 10, 1930 — October 14, 2016
Passed away on October 14, 2016 at the age of 86. Survived by her loving husband Edward Frank Lawrence, daughter Christie (Bill) Ewen of Kelowna, BC, sons Ken (Heather) Lawrence of Edgewood, BC and Stuart Lawrence of West Vancouver, grandchildren Jolene (Dan) Fremlin, Adam Lawrence, Danielle (Brett) Van der Hoek and Alaura (Blake) Culos and great grandchildren Yukon and Gibson. Predeceased by her parents Margaret and Lawrence Mouat.
On July 10, 1930 Margery Kay Lawrence was born an only child to parents Lawrence and Margaret Mouat of Vancouver, BC.
Margery spent her childhood in Vancouver, BC attending Van Horn Elementary and John Oliver High School with lifetime friends Audrey, Doe and Olive. Her softball team went on to win the Provincials with Margery catching the winning fly ball.
She then went on to work for the City of Vancouver in the Engineering Department. While on one of her many swimming trips to Cultus Lake, she met the love of her life, Ted (Edward Frank) Lawrence. They married on 1953 and Margery worked to help Ted obtain his University Degree. Their two sons were born in Vancouver. In 1962 they moved their family to Kelowna where their daughter was born. Margery cherished her role as wife and mother to her family while making time to volunteer as president of the Hospital Auxiliary, Engineers Wives, Cancer Fundraising and many school functions and horse events. Golf and Tennis were a long-time passion of hers at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, where she was an active member for over 35 years.
Margery adored playing and swimming with her grandchildren at the family home. Marge always found a way to make things nice in times of need with offerings of great food and a gentle and kind hand. Her delicious famous sandwich platters will never be forgotten.
The family would like to thank all those involved for their kindness and caring in Marge’s final days.
