We Remember
LECOMPTE, Roy Roger
August 18, 1974 — August 10, 2025
On August 10, 2025, with his family by his side, Roy Roger Lecompte set down his tools, hung up his fishing rod, and headed off on his next great adventure. He was just eight days shy of his 51st birthday.
Roy was born in Vernon, BC. His childhood was in Cranbrook, BC during his schooling in K and Grade 1; then onto Prince George, BC from Grade 2 – Grade 10. He finished Grade 11 and 12 in Creston, BC. Much of his adult life was in Alberta, working in the oil fields driving truck.
Roy became a true outdoorsman in Creston. Roy found peace on the water, in the bush, or under the big open sky. Keeping him busy in the warm months was fishing, hunting, mushroom foraging, camping, boating, quadding, and wild swimming (much of it with his pride and joy, his daughter Emma). Come winter, it was sledding, skiing, and chasing the quiet beauty of fresh snow. He loved to hike to hidden hot springs and could make a camp feel like home in minutes.
Roy was spiritual in his own way; embracing both God and the wild places he made. Roy had found contentment in pursuing off-grid living and mining. Music followed him everywhere. He sang with gusto (and occasionally, okay… often, the wrong lyrics); he loved his Rock & Roll, and was a proud “Swiftie” without apology.
Roy will be forever missed by his daughter, Emma Lecompte; his parents, David and Margaret Lecompte; sisters Janice (Jean) Palm and Michelle (Andrew) Gray; nieces and nephews Kelsey, Coralie, Tanner, Tianna, Dawson, Caetlyn, and Leah; and great-nieces and -nephews. Add to that a wide circle of extended family and friends – too many to name, but every one treasured.
A life lived big, with a heart to match; that was our Roy.
A private gathering will be held at a later date.

I am unsure if this is the same Roy I met in Red Deer, AB about 1987-1988. But, as I just came across this announcement, I wanted to post my condolences. Your Obituary really shows you lived life big! My heartfelt condolences to your family.
