We Remember
LEE, Wanda Marlene
—
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wanda Lee, on December 14, 2018 at the age of 56. She is survived by her loving husband John of 25 years, her daughters Alyssa Gibbs (Sheldon), Kate Starr (Matt) and Jessica Lee (Kyle), grandchildren Jorden, Scarlet, Blake and her beloved grandpugs. She also leaves to mourn her sisters Dawn (Keith), Regina and Darlene (Barry), her brother Barry (Christine) as well as her long-time friends Barb (Dave) and Phyllis (Gord). She was predeceased by her parents Wilson (Matilda) and Alice Clarke.
Wanda was born and raised in Tilton, Newfoundland. As a young woman, she ventured to Western Canada and eventually settled in Kelowna, BC. Her most important job in life was raising her family and making a home. She truly was the backbone of the family. The pride and joy of Wanda’s life was her husband John and daughters Alyssa, Kate and Jessica.
Wanda loved cooking, quilting, gardening and entertaining. Everyone loved coming over for one of Wanda’s home cooked meals, she often had a house full of people. Spending time with friends and family meant the world to her. Later in life, Wanda became passionate about quilting, eventually sharing this passion with close friends. She made many personalized quilts for those that she cherished. She often looked forward to spring and being able to plant flowers in her beautiful gardens. She had a green thumb and her gardens were often the envy of others. Her vivacious and welcoming personality drew many people to her. There was nobody that Wanda met with whom she couldn’t carry on a conversation. She was well liked and loved by many. Wanda had a very big heart and loved helping others. She was always the first to offer help to those who needed it.
Wanda had strong opinions and was passionate about what she believed in. She was a very strong woman who battled breast cancer for 14 years and her positivity and sense of humour helped make the “c” word seem not so daunting. She often had those sitting next to her at the Cancer Clinic laughing along with her.
Wanda was taken too early from us and will be greatly missed by everyone. She will stay in our hearts forever. We love you always, Wanda.

I was blessed to have met Wanda while visiting my sister Barb in Kelowna. She welcomed me with open arms and open heart; I suspect there are many who could say the same. Her spirit will live on.
My thoughts are with John, Alyssa, Kate and Jessica,
My thoughts and prayers go out to all families and friends of Wanda. May God give you the strength to get through this most difficult time ! RIP Wanda . Hugs
I grew up with Wanda in Tilton. She had a large circle of friends and we spent many hours in her home. Her parents always welcomed everyone. I am not surprised to hear that Wanda did the same. I am very sorry for your loss.
We are thinking about Wanda’s family as they go through this unbelievable, hard, sad time. Wanda grew up here in Tilton and dropped by our home quite often. She was always doing what she could for everyone. So it don’t surprise me she made so many friends. Rip Wanda.
