We Remember

LEHMAN, Erma May

The family of Erma Lehman is saddened to announce her passing on October 14, 2020 at the age of 82 years. Erma was the second daughter born to Jacob and Emma Lehman. She was born and raised on a farm just east of the town of Valleyview, AB. She attended School, grades 1-8 in the town of Valleyview. She was a homemaker so was very helpful in getting things done on the farm. She helped with the large garden, hoeing, picking weeds, harvesting the: peas, beans, carrots, corn, beets, and potatoes. Also, she helped inside the home: vacuuming, dusting, washing floors, and making her own bed. She attended the Emmanuel Baptist church in Valleyview where she accepted the Lord in her early teens and was then baptized thereafter.

She always enjoyed her church life including Sunday school and youth group. When her parents decided to retire, sell the farm and move to Kelowna, BC she also moved with them in 1973. She lived with them in Kelowna, helping with gardening, watering, and cleaning the house. They attended Trinity Baptist Church, and she went faithfully each Sunday. After the passing of her parents, she moved to an apartment of her own and lived there for a number of years. She owned her own car and after she could no longer drive, she purchased a three-wheel bike that took her many places, including grocery shopping. She joined the Singles Senior Group at Trinity which she really enjoyed. She also enjoyed baking, especially poppy seed baking. As her health started to decline her doctor advised her to not live by herself anymore, so the doctor and social worker placed her in an assisted living complex at the Good Samaritan Society, Mountainview Village in Kelowna. She was in excellent care in this facility until her death on October 14, 2020.

She leaves to mourn her two brothers, Ron Lehman (Lil) of Edmonton, AB and Dave Lehman (Bev) of Valleyview, AB; niece Kim Paulson (Monte) of Spruce Grove, AB and nephew Del Lehman of Edmonton, AB; also, niece Lesa Lehman and nephew Terry Lehman both in the USA; great nephew Caleb Paulson, and great nieces Kaylee and Ashley Paulson; as well as her many cousins and friends. She will be missed by all.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jacob Lehman (September 1, 1989) and Emma Lehman (May 18, 1997), and one infant sister Esther (November 14, 1938).

If Erma could now say “Thank you” to the people at Mountainview Village: the chaplain, the Doctors, the Nurses, workers, and recreational Director that took care of her and looked after her so well, she would certainly do it. On behalf of her brothers and spouses we say a hearty THANK YOU for being there for her all the time.

A Funeral Service will be held to honour Erma, due to the current pandemic restrictions it will be by invitation only. However, the family would like to invite all who want to pay their respects to join by livestream on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 10:00 am (see below).
