LEVINE, Judith Susan “Judy”

December 29, 1958 — December 30, 2025

Judy was a bright light. Always loving, caring, sensitive, very bubbly, and generous.

Judy was born in Winnipeg, but spent her high school years in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was actively involved in student government, Big Sisters, and working with disabled people. She was a ball of energy and in High School, won the dance marathon by continually dancing for ten hours. Judy completed her Post Secondary education in Sales at Tom Hopkins in Calgary and graduated at the top of her class. When Judy set her mind on something, she was unstoppable. She was scattered but driven. This undoubtedly was her calling, as Judy’s career in Sales was boosted by her gregarious personality and charm.

Judy loved meeting new people and making new friends. She was always invested in learning as much about you as she could. She was interested in learning about different cultures and practices. “I should have been an interviewer” she would say. If you were lucky enough to know Judy, your life became part of Judy’s with her genuine care and concern.

Judy loved putting on parties, especially on Halloween. Every occasion deserved a celebration. She loved decorating and exchanging gifts, and also loved to peek. Judy loved going to home shows, craft fairs, psychic fairs, and community events. She loved good food and she loved to shop. She scheduled regular monthly card games with her closest friends. Judy loved to travel and had many trips with her best friend of over 30 years, Halina Gazeley, Judy endearingly called “Chicken”, friends through thick and thin. Her ultimate joy was meeting new people and spending time with friends.

Judy settled in Kelowna, BC in 1993 without the intention of staying but fell in love with the city, She worked hard and purchased a home. She collected and surrounded herself with angels and fairies, and it was her happy place. Besides her many friends, Judy’s closest companions were her dogs — Precious and Midnight, and after they both passed, her beloved Cuddles. Spoiled but happy, Cuddles was Judy’s loyal companion.

Judy created and distributed, with the help of her longtime friend, Michelle Belanger, the popular Okanagan Sunshine Savings Coupon Book that circulated from 2007 to 2023. Judy was also very active in promoting murals and having the artist’s work featured in our city. Her biggest pride was the Kelowna Rockets Wall of Fame painted by her dear friend Joey Burdziuk. Judy also sponsored the Maxine DeHart drive thru breakfast to support United Way for several years. She loved her community and wanted to support it.

Judy had a great love and passion for music, theatre, and arts. Within 2 beats of any song, she could ‘name that tune’. She loved to sing along to music. She often did trade for advertising and, as a result, had front row seats at the Actors Studio. She loved her friends Randy and Nate from the Actors Studio and often brought them flowers. She also had season passes to watch the Rockets, offering her 2nd seat to different friends to enjoy.

The last two years of Judy’s life had plagued her with many health issues. This slowed her down, but she still found the energy to get out for monthly cards because this was important to her. Judy’s closest and dearest friends were always there for her. Judy never complained and always looked on the bright side. She was a fighter.

In the end, it was Judy’s big heart that didn’t allow Judy to continue her life. Judy was predeceased by her mother, Robin Mintz; father Murray Levine; and brother Joel Levine. She is survived by her brother, Michael Levine.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
