We Remember
LINK, Frederick Gerald “Gerry”
January 18, 1930 — December 29, 2021
Gerry Link passed away peacefully at his home, as was his wish, on December 29, 2021, at the age of 91 years.
Dad always put his family first, and for sure his 3 children know it, and lived it. We were blessed with a devoted father. That love of family extends back to his roots in Manitoba, where his brothers Wayne (Joan) & Connor (Evelyn), and many more relatives, still reside today.
Gerry is survived by his three children: Randy (Shelli) and Randy’s children, Jazmynn and Toni, as well as Gerry’s great-granddaughter, Rhyder; Rhonda (Larry); Greg and Greg’s children, Dryden and Kaylee. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Elizabeth Link; his brother Herb; sister Leona (Smitty); and his first wife Doreen and his second Christina. Christina’s son Andrew has fond memories of Gerry from past years.
Dad had a few lifelong friends that go back many years. Those memories are in his many photo albums. He had fun and laughed in his wonderful life of 91 years. He loved food, cars, country music, gardening, painting, visiting, taking photos, and candy. This man always had a candy in his pocket.
There are many people to thank for the kindness they have shown to Dad over the years. His friends and neighbours were a big part of his happiness from day to day. A daily walk in the neighbourhood was so rewarding for Dad, so many caring people. Dad was missing his Trinity Church family these past two years; he was a member of the church since 1965 and donated many hours painting and ushering.
Dr. Paul Hart, we gratefully thank you for the level of care and compassion you provided for our dad. Your guidance brought peace and comfort to Dad, especially this past month. The struggle and fear subsided.
We will forever remember our dad that never let go of us, and his life being so active and full. Dad has now climbed the highest ladder. We’re guessing heaven has a fresh coat of paint already, with country music playing in the background. We miss him very much.
