We Remember
LOCK, Melvin
December 30, 1945 — September 18, 2025
Melvin Lock passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 79 years.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Micheline; his daughter Erika Brockmeyer (Dylan); and grandson Mason. He was predeceased by his grandson Matteas.
Born in England, Melvin came to Canada at the age of 13 and grew up in South Burnaby. He later attended Simon Fraser University and shared his love of the water by teaching sailing. In 1990, Melvin married his neighbour Micheline. Together they built a rich life filled with laughter, adventures, and cherished memories—including 32 years with their beloved African Grey Parrot, Rascal.
Together, he and Micheline built a home on Galiano Island, and treasured their time together. Four years ago, they moved to Kelowna to be closer to Erika and her family, a time Melvin held close to his heart.
A kind and gentle soul, Melvin will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, and quiet humour. He enjoyed good wine, a fine single malt Scotch—especially Glenfiddich—and the simple pleasures of life shared with those he loved most.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
