We Remember
LUKENCHUK, Roseland
November 2, 1930 — November 9, 2022
It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Roseland Lukenchuk shortly after her 92nd birthday.
Roseland was born in Shepenge, Alberta, and moved to Edmonton in 1945 where she met her future husband, Joseph, who was at the University of Alberta Faculty of Dentistry. Roseland achieved high marks throughout her schooling and after graduating from business college worked at an insurance company where she quickly was promoted to a senior position.
Roseland and Joseph married in 1951 and moved to Two Hills in 1952, where Joseph established his first dental practice. They were immediately warmly welcomed by the local residents and made many lifelong friends. Roseland was very involved in community and church activities. She loved entertaining and her Two Hills parties are legendary.
They moved to Vegreville in 1966, to Edmonton in 1968, and to Kelowna in 1979. Everywhere, they made many cherished friends.
Roseland loved following the news and politics, as well as travelling, especially to Mexico in later years.
Roseland’s house was very important to her, and displays her extensive collections of plates, ornaments, Ukrainian Easter eggs, and fine furniture.
Roseland was an accomplished curler, passionate gardener, and wonderful cook. Christmas and Easter dinners were always delicious feasts of traditional Ukrainian dishes. Above all, Roseland’s family was most important to her, and we will sorely miss her.
Roseland will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Joseph; their daughters Kerry (Harry) Tomyn and Maureen (John) Conlon; and grandchildren Brittany and Jonathon. Roseland’s memory will also be cherished by her sister-in-law Elsie (Andy) Johnson; brothers-in-law Ernie Cote and Fred Peetz; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Roseland suffered with chronic osteoarthritic pain for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roseland’s name to the Arthritis Society of Canada, www.arthritis.ca, or to a Charity of your Choice.
A Service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 10:00 AM (PST) at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5V8.
