We Remember
LUNDEEN, Darcelle Denise (Sturm)
September 12, 1952 — September 12, 2016
Passed away at 64 years old in Kelowna on September 12, her birthday, after a long battle with ALS. Darcelle will be remembered most for how loving and caring she was — herself a lifelong caregiver — and as an especially devoted mother, wife, sister, friend and parishioner. She was a bright spot in the life of all who knew her. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion and had an uncanny ability to call or write just when you were beginning to feel down. Darcelle loved to travel, rarely missed Mass, loved gardening and animals, and she could sing like an angel. Darcelle is survived by; her husband Doug, her three children Patrick (Bree), Stacy (Caroline), Charlotte (Jeff), two grandchildren Louis and Ruby, her father Harold, and three siblings, Doug (Karen), Renee (Tim), and Colin (Shelly). She is predeceased by her mother Ethel, stepfather Louis and dear friend Mary Richardson. The family wishes to thank all those who helped her in her illness. Your help has been greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. Darcelle will have a Franciscan Wake at 7pm on Friday, September 23, 2016, followed by a Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2pm. Both services will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Red Deer, Alberta, 5508 48A Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the ALS Society of Canada (www.als.ca).

We met Darcelle at ALS support group. Darcelle was a friend to me and an inspiration to those travelling the ALS journey. We shared rare hugs and regular emails. I will miss her. Charlotte- you are your Mom’s angel. Our condolences to Doug, Patrick, Stacy, Charlotte and families. Though you’ve lost Darcelle, her hard journey is over and she’s at peace.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I knew Darcelle from the Family of Nazareth retreats.. I loved her gentle and loving presence. I will miss her. I will pray for you and her.
Doug, our deepest condolences to you and all the family. Darcelle was a very dear friend to our sister Mary and even as she was faced with her difficulties, came to support us and shared our loss of Mary. We will always remember friendship and kindness.
