We Remember
LUNDGAARD, Rina Marie Lise Louisette
—
The family of Rina Lundgaard sadly announces her passing on November 4, 2023, at the age of 84 years. Rina was predeceased by her first husband Regnar Lundgaard, and her second husband Barry Patterson. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Denis, Christian (Kathy), Peter (Marianne), and Katrine; her grandchildren: Cole, Bryson, Nyssa, Nathan, Carmen (Jon), Alex, and Michael (Paris); and her great-grandchild Emmett. Rina will also be missed by her sister Charlotte, her brother Andre, and her cousin Denise.
Rina’s family held a deep love for her. She was born in Thetford Mines, Quebec. She moved to Ottawa, where she raised her family with Regnar “Rene” Lundgaard. Rina enjoyed travelling, especially to be near the ocean. She visited Florida, Mexico, Guadeloupe, Denmark, Hawaii, and Australia. In 1994, they moved to Kelowna, British Columbia to be closer to family.
Rina had a very generous nature and showed it often by giving of her time, love, food, gifts, and money. She cared a lot about others, even taking in family and those from different countries. Rina was a good wife and mother, always looking out for the welfare of others. She loved God’s Word and certainly lived up to the scripture in Acts 20 verse 35 where it says in part “…There’s more happiness in giving than receiving…” May we all be like her and imitate that sentiment.
With deep gratitude, we thank the Kelowna General Hospital staff and the Central Okanagan Hospice House staff.
In keeping with Rina’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. She will be honoured in the hearts of those who had the joy of knowing her.

Katrine, Alex, Michael & Paris and family,
We sent condolences through another link, but wanted to ensure you received our warm love to all of you. Our heart’s are grieving with yours. Your Mom & Grandma was such a beautiful, classy lady with such a lovely smile that would light up even the darkest room! She had the gift of gab and could strike up a conversation with anyone! She had no trouble speaking her mind, even as petite as she was. She truly was generous and really cared for other’s. We are so comforted that all of you were able to be together in her final month’s, now she can rest comfortably and peacefully. May each passing day get easier to bare, with a brighter future ahead.
Much love,
Jeff & Margie VanHeukelom & family.
We were saddened to hear of the passing of your mother, Peter. Our thoughts are with all of you, Marianne, Carmen and Nathan during this difficult time. XO
