LUTTMERDING, Herbert (Herb) A.
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
Passed away suddenly on February 16, 2014 at the age of 75. Survived by his loving wife Mary, two daughters Karen (Ron Rutledge), Michelle (Wayne) Somerville, son Stephen, grandchildren Kayla, Mackenzie and Madison Somerville, all of Kelowna, brother Werner (Michelle), sister Audrey (David) Heal, sister-in-law Thea all of Armstrong and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sadly predeceased by his parents Arthur and Blanche Luttmerding and brother Alfred. Herb moved with his family from Saskatchewan to Armstrong in 1952. While attending UBC he met Mary in 1959 and they married in the summer of 1961. He also graduated from UBC in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and worked for the Provincial Government for 33 years retiring in 1995. He then continued working as a Soil Specialist Consultant for the following 10 years. Herb and Mary raised their family in Kelowna. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with family especially his cherished granddaughters. He was often running “Grandpa’s taxi”, fulfilling his lifelong love of driving anything with four wheels. Prayer service will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC followed by Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 27, at 11:00 am at the Holy Spirit Church, 1260 Neptune Road, Kelowna, BC. Interment to follow in Lakeview Memorial Garden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Okanagan Land Trust www.coltrust.ca 250-870-6015. I was very sad to learn that Herb has passed. He contributed greatly to soil survey in BC. I will miss him at Agrologists meetings and enjoyed our telephone calls duing the past few year.s
