We Remember

LYDYNIUK, Harry

1934 – 2022

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Harry Lydyniuk, on January 2, 2022, with his loving family by his side, at the care home Village at Smith Creek, in West Kelowna, BC.

Harry was predeceased by his beloved wife Madeleine in 2019, after 59 years of marriage; his parents John and Mary; three sisters Ann Ledeniuk, Doris Buzikievich, and Pearl Federovich; and two brothers Peter and Steve.  Harry leaves behind two sisters, Anastasia Cebriy, and Helen (Nick) Kostur; his three children Sheryl LaTosky (Neal), Wayne (Laura), and Lydia (Dave); and his precious grandchildren Brooklyn, Kirstyn, Malynda (John), Junielle, Angela (Josh), Brandon, and Sandra; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harry was born on April 28, 1934, on the family farm in St Julien, Saskatchewan.  He was the fifth child of John and Mary’s eight children.  Harry and Madeleine were married on May 7, 1960. Their journey together began in Wakaw, SK, then they moved to BC, living in Vancouver, Burton, Mica Creek, Sicamous then Kelowna.

Dad’s passion was operating his grader.  He worked on the Mica Dam, Revelstoke Dam, Coquihalla Highway, and many roads around BC and Saskatchewan.

Dad loved to work on projects in his house, garage, and around the yard.  He loved his gardening, and his walnut and fruit trees.  Dad was a perfectionist with everything he did.  This trait was passed on to his children and grandchildren.  Family was very important to Dad, and he loved the holidays when we were all together and spending time with his grandchildren.

There is a hole in all our hearts that will never be filled again.

The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at the Village of Smith Creek for the exceptional care that Dad received.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC in honour of Harry’s name.
