MACGOWAN, Dorothy (nee Wilson)
May 25, 1936 — January 13, 2014
It is with great sadness that Dorothy’s family announce her passing at the age of 77. Survived by Daniel, her loving husband of 57 years; her sister Mary (Jim), brothers Gerry and Phil (Yvonne) of Alberta, son Robert (Betty) of Kamloops, daughter Linda MacGowan (Paul), and Janet Amundrud (Doug) of Kelowna, grandchildren Mark, Derek, Trevor, Jared, David, Jason, Kyle, Kerri and great grandson, Kaden. Dorothy was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan and spent her youth in Edgerton, Edmonton and Wainwright, Alberta. After marrying Daniel in 1956 they resided in Calgary, Red Deer, Kitimat and finally Kelowna. Dorothy lived a full and active life. Her passions were curling, where she represented BC in two national play-offs, and golf where she recorded two holes-in-one. Dorothy will be remembered as a caring and dedicated wife, mother and friend. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will take place at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC on Saturday, January 25th, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Donations in her memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 202-1835 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC V1Y 3H5 or any other charity of your choice.
