We Remember

MACK, Lydia

August 14, 1928 — November 3, 2019

We mourn the loss of Lydia Mack, our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the age of 91 years. She lived a beautiful and full life, born Lydia Litke on August 14, 1928 in Poland and raised in Germany. In 1951 she met the love of her life and married Roland Mack, they immigrated to Canada shortly after. We remember her resilient heart, her loving spirit and the many jokes she would make even into her later years. We cherish the beautiful memories with her in Kelowna, BC and of course in Edmonton, AB.

She is survived by two of her siblings Edward Litke (Lily) and Ewalt Litke (Edeltraudt) and her four children: Elke White (Colin), Norbert Mack (Brenda), Couleen Maryschuk (Peter) and Katherine Kakoschke (Marlin).  She also leaves to mourn grandchildren Kirsten White, Troy Mack (Naomi), Tyler Mack (Kristin), Tim Mack, Sarah and Katie Maryschuk, Brandon and Ryan Kakoschke and great grandchildren Tristan and Rhys Mack.  Lydia was predeceased by her husband Roland, three sisters, and numerous in-laws.

While we will miss her here on earth, we rejoice that she is now with our Saviour and reunited with the love of her life. We are thankful she is no longer suffering. Her leaving us is merely a glimpse into the redemption she found in God, and her strong faith. She passed away in her sleep at SunPointe Village in Kelowna, British Columbia.

We would like to thank the staff at SunPointe Village Ellison unit for their love and care to Mom.  Her celebration of life will be on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, Mom requested donations to the Gideon Society, gideons.ca. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences”.
