We Remember

MACKENZIE, Helen
November 18, 1936 — January 12, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Helen MacKenzie, who passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at the age of 88.
Helen is survived by her sons, Alan (Raewyn), and Norman (Marie); five grandsons, Scott, Lachlyn, Micah, Aaron (Stevie) and Jaydyn (Rachel); as well as three brothers and four sisters.
She now goes to join those who passed before her, including her husband Arthur and son Robert. She was also predeceased by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Helen was born into a large family in Lethbridge, where she met and married Art. They had three sons there and eventually moved to Golden where she started working at the CIBC bank. They spent several years there before finally landing in Kelowna where she continued to work at the CIBC until her retirement. She loved Kelowna and serving the people of the city, assisting them with their bank accounts and financial goals.
Helen was known for her quick wit and infectious laugh. She adored her family and was always ready with a funny story about her active sons. She had many friends and was an avid volunteer for several years with the “Run for the Cure”. Her generous nature was apparent in her continuing support of many charities.
In her later years, she fought and won the battle against cancer. She faced her growing health issues with a tenacity that was her nature and through it all she remained connected with her family that was spread out around the world and NEVER forgot a birthday or anniversary. Her independence was demonstrated by her living alone and still driving to the end. This was a badge of honour for her.
The family wishes to thank her devoted friends, Michelle Kam and family for their continued love and support of Helen through the years.
No service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
