We Remember
MACLEOD, Louise Linda
March 30, 1967 — April 4, 2026
They say life is measured not by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. By that measure, Louise Linda MacLeod lived enormously – because she took the road less travelled, and cranked the music the whole way. Born on March 30, 1967, in Edmonton, AB, Louise MacLeod passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 4, 2026, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 59.
Her energy was extravagant, her spirit boundless. Louise lived with her whole heart. Passionate, generous, and fiercely devoted to the people she loved, she was the kind of person you wanted at every party, every hard moment, and every average day.
Growing up in Blackfalds, AB, the Queen of Blackfalds twirled her batons with abandon and lived loud from the start. Then came the Coca-Cola guy – dropping off product at the Red Deer coffee shop where Louise worked – and nothing was ever quite the same. Dennis never stood a chance. Louise became a social worker and brought that same energy to her community, supporting those who needed her most. They settled in Lacombe, AB, where they raised their two children, Brittany and Andrew. As a stay-at-home mom, Louise was all in! Life was all hockey tournaments, school events, and birthdays.
Dennis had a business opportunity creating a move to BC, but Louise was not about to budge… unless there was a boat. For a boat, she would move to Kelowna. Needless to say, the music was cranked on the water as much as it was in the Jeep. She could be spotted around town in her Jeep, painted her favourite colour – Tiffany Blue – of course.
Kelowna proved to be the perfect place for Louise’s love of roses to bloom, and six years ago she channelled that passion into Funky Petals Flower Shop, a business as vibrant and welcoming as the woman behind it.
Her spirit will be forever carried on by those she leaves behind: her beloved husband of 35 years, Dennis; her children, Andrew (Richelle) and Brittany (Deryk); her granddaughter, Lacey; her dad, Hubert; her brother, Joseph (Christine); and her beloved grand-dog Chester, the “bester of all dogs”.
Waiting on the other side, welcoming Louise with open arms is her mom, Donna.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edgewood Treatment Centre (send an e-transfer to accounting@edgewood.ca the password is Boxwood), BC Cancer Foundation, or COHA (Central Okanagan Hospice Association).

My sincere condolences to the entire family. Louise is truly a beautiful soul. Rest well and be in peace Louise.
What a beautifully written memorial of Louise! As someone who has had the privilege of being in her orbit as a part time floral designer, I can attest to every word. She brought laughter, compassion, heart, energy (oh the energy) and meticulous attention to detail to everything she did. Her singular intent was to deliver her precious, valued customers the best experience possible. With her leadership and by example, she allowed each of us creative license to aspire to the same level of service. Her presence is felt everywhere, and I am better having known her.
The loss to her family immense and I send my deepest and heartfelt condolences to each of them.
Louise was such a bright light and we will miss her. We have so many fond memories of visits to Kelowna with your family and we will treasure them now.
Dear Dennis, Brittany and Andrew.
With Heartfelt Sympathy
A life well lived leaves its Gentle Pattern on the hearts of all,
and the world is a lovelier place because one person touched
it with warmth, goodness and grace.
Im so so sorry Dennis, Brittany and Andrew to hear this news. Louise was amazing and lit up any room she walked into. I have so many great memories of our work trips together. Heaven will never be the same with her energy and smile 🙂
We were so sad to hear of Louise’s passing. My condolences to you, your family and friends.
Dennis, Brittany and Andrew I was shocked to hear to learn the terrible news. Louise was an amazing lady and great fun to be around, she will be hugely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Please accept my deepest condolences at this extremely tragic time. Gone way too soon.
A beautiful flower that wilted too soon, and her vibrant personality shone thru everywhere she went. She will be missed!

My sincere condolences to you, Dennis, Brittany, Andrew and family. Louise was an inspiration to so many people, including myself, and she will be deeply missed. Louise was not only a remarkable businesswoman, but also a dear friend whose warmth and spirit meant so much to all of us in the Funky Petals family. I’m so grateful to have known her.
Dennis, There are no words that can truly ease the pain of your loss, but I hope you can find some comfort in the beautiful memories you and your family shared together—the laughter, the love, and the countless precious moments, and the way she lived life!. May you find strength in one another, and may the support of family and friends help carry you through the days ahead. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I am wishing you peace, comfort, and healing in time.
Dear Dennis, Brittney, Andrew
We are so sorry to hear of Louise’s passing, sending deepest condolences and prayers to the whole family. May the days and weeks ahead bring you comfort remembering her spirit and love.
Dear Dennis, Brittany & Andrew,
I was privileged today to attend Louise’s Celebration of Life (online). She would have been so proud of the send off you gave her, particularly the eulogy, Well done Brittany & Andrew, such a hard thing to do for your Momma but you did it so well. Her spirit was truly captured in this event today!
Wayne & I send our condolences to all Louise’s family and friends. We are so sorry that you have to go through this heartache. May your memories provide you with comfort. May you see her looking back at you, when you look in Brittany’s, Andrew’s and Lacey’s eyes.
We always had fun when Louise was around! Wayne & I had a great time getting to know her at Grey Cup in Vancouver many years ago and on trips we got to attend with The MacLeods there (yes you are legendary :-))! She was so generous as well. Inviting me to stay in her home when travelling for business – just a small snapshot of the wonderful person she was.
As said by her friend and neighbour towards the end of her celebration today – “CONGRATULATIONS ON A LIFE WELL LIVED LOUISE!” You really knew how to do it Lady!
We will have a shot of Tequila in your honour today. The tequila may not be up to Louise’s standards but its pretty good, and cheap (Scottish heritage talking here)!
Hugs to all!
Lorri & Wayne
Dennis, Andrew and Brittany

We will certainly miss your love of music, laughter and friendships if we manage to visit Canada again. We have some wonderful memories of BBQs round your pool and wonderful meals in your home. I have wonderful memories of working with L0uise making wonderful huge, red, paper poppies for the shop window decoration for remembrance weekend the first year she opened. Her excitement knew no bounds. Louise, Dennis and family were a great help to my son Steven and family when they moved to Kelowna, Louise in particular helping with schools etc for the children. They proved to amazing friends and neighbours.
Rest in peace Louise we will miss you if we make another trip to Canada. look after yourselves Dennis, Brittany and Andrew. Special People and special friends. Regards Andrea and Peter from Newton Aycliffe, England.
