We Remember
MACMILLIAN, Kathryn Margaret (née Jacobson)
December 22, 1951 — July 5, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kathryn Margaret MacMillan (née Jacobson) on July 5, 2026, in Kelowna, British Columbia, at the age of 74.
Kathy was born on December 22, 1951, in Penticton, British Columbia, to Charles and Margaret Jacobson. She was predeceased by her father, mother and sister, Marilyn Jacobson. She was also predeceased by in-laws, Moi Grant, Kennley Johnston, and Gail Thomlison.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Robin MacMillan; her beloved children, Cheryl (Andy) Wiebe and Kevin (Gina) Stehle; and her cherished grandchildren, Braedon, Alyssa, Kiera, and Juliet, who brought endless joy and pride to her life. She will also be fondly remembered by Robin’s family, Mike (Jody), Glen (Rhea), Jim (Glenda), Ken (Barb), and June.
In grade 9, Kathy’s family moved to Salmon Arm, where she often fondly recalled learning to drive in the dealerships iconic 1967 Mustangs. She later spent twelve years living in Kamloops, where she discovered her passion for education and was inspired to become a teacher.
After relocating to Kelowna, Kathy dedicated her career to students in School District 23. She chose to work in some of the district’s most challenging schools, believing every child deserved encouragement, patience, and the opportunity to succeed. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment left a lasting impact on countless students, families, and colleagues throughout her teaching career.
While teaching at Bankhead Elementary, Kathy met Robin, who would become the love of her life. Robin introduced Kathy to adventures she never imagined herself enjoying—fishing, skiing, white water rafting, camping, and many other outdoor pursuits. They were married on August 9, 1995, in the Spencer Castle on Vancouver Island. From that day forward, Robin treated Kathy like a princess, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
In retirement, Kathy and Robin enjoyed travelling together and lovingly rebuilding the family cabin on the Shuswap, creating a special place where family memories were made for generations. Although health challenges slowed them in recent years, they never diminished the joy they found in spending precious time with their children, grandchildren, and one another.
Kathy will be remembered for her feisty spirit, generous heart, determination, and unwavering love for her family. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family, friends, former colleagues, and the many students whose lives she helped shape.

I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I have many fond memories of time spent with my cousin Kath who was just a couple of years younger than me. Such a beautiful smile, a bright light in any room, she will be missed.
