We Remember

MAGYAR, Éva Mária

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Éva Mária Magyar, of Kelowna, BC on February 21, 2022, at the age of 81 years.

Éva will be lovingly remembered by her children Sylvia and Melinda; her grandchildren Timea and Alexia; her brother István; her nephews and nieces Zoltán, Gábor, Zoltán, Róbert, Norbert, Rita and Viktória; her cousins Edit, Mária and Zsuzsa; as well as numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her partner Charles Dobos; her former spouse Lajos Magyar; her sister Mariann; her cousins Csaba and Lászlo; and her parents Anna and Valér.

Éva was born in the small village of Fácánkert, Hungary in 1940 and immigrated to Canada in 1966. She fell in love with and settled in the Okanagan as the stunning views, the vineyards, and the big, blue waters of the lake always reminded her of Balatonalmádi, the village where she grew up on Lake Balaton. Friends and family will always remember Éva’s social nature, her wry sense of humour, her ability to tell a story, and her gracious hospitality to anyone who entered her home. It didn’t matter if you knew Éva for five years or five minutes, if you came to her house, you were leaving with a belly full of her delicious home-cooked meals and desserts.

Éva Magyar will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Life will not be the same without having Mama in our lives.

A Private Service and Celebration will be held at the family’s request.
