September 1, 1923 — June 8, 2013
On Saturday, June 8, 2013, long time Kelowna resident Tina Phyllis (Kay) Marshall passed away peacefully at the age of 89 in Lake Country. Kay was born in Poland on September 1, 1923 to John and Nadia Jasechko and was one of five children: Len (predeceased), Nina, Eleana and Ole (predeceased). The family emigrated to Saskatchewan where she became a teacher. She joined the Canadian Forces during WW2 and served in Vancouver before joining her family who had moved to Kelowna after the war. Kay met her husband Rex Marshall at a skating party at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club in January 1949 and they married in May, 1950. A family of six children followed: Garfield / ( Monika – pre-deceased ), Maxine (Terry), Ivor (predeceased)/(Barb), Corinne, Lori / ( Kelly ), and Lance / (Michelle ). Kay and Rex owned fruit farms in the Kelowna, Winfield, Oyama, and Vernon areas until Rex passed away in 1985. After Rex’s passing, the farms were sold and Kay enjoyed a life in Kelowna with her family and friends, and especially with her grandchildren. Surviving Kay are her two sisters Nina and Eleana, and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild: Garfield, Maxine (daughter Amber), Corinne (son Iain), Lori (son Lee) and Lance (daughter Andrea and son Scott) and Ivor’s sons Christopher, Benjamin and Ryan, and great-granddaughter Presley. Kay was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and wife and she is missed by all. The family wish to thank Dr. Carver and Dr. Penney and all of the wonderful staff at Lake Country Lodge for the excellent care over the years. Lance,
We will always remember your wonderful Mom with great fondness. Thinking of you, Dee, Colin, Jason, and Kevin.
I was just checking my father George’s condolence page (he passed just two days before Kay). My sympathies to all family members. Maxine was my best friend all thru high school. I remember many many times spent in the Marshall house enjoying Kay’s baking, her wonderful sense of humour, her wisdom shared freely, and her extraordinary management of a large family and a large farm house. I’m sure Maxine and I caused her to develop a few grey hairs. Wonderful that she lived a full life and got to see her grand children. My sincerest wishes to all the clan at the loss of your wonderful mother!

My sincere condolences to the Marshall family on the passing of your mom. Kay was a great neighbor to have in the Glenmore area. She was a great cook and I remember some great meals at the Marshal home. Garfield and I were best friends during school days and I think we may have given Kay and Rex a few extra grey hairs over those years. Great memories.
Sincerely;

To the entire Marshall family.
My condolences to you all as you remember Kay. I am thinking especially of Maxine and Garfield and playing together at the family home. Truthfully, Maxine and I were more likely annoying Garfield than playing together but your Mom was always there to see that things were under control. Thanks to the extended Marshall family for your many contributions to the Kelowna area. I am sure my sister Anne would feel the same way. Jean (Anderson) Githens
