We Remember
Martin, John Thomas
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
On Sunday, August 5, 2012, heaven was filled with smiles and hugs when John met up with his mom Bridget and dad Andrew; his brothers Alex and Ned and baby sister Bridgie. Far too soon his lifelong partner, friend and love Sharon, had to let him slip away after trying so hard to have him stay. Empty hearts will be abundant as he leaves behind his children Dale (Tania) and Tamie (Don); his beautiful granddaughter Courtney whom he told “I love you” so very often; his brothers Bill (Shirley), Andy (Nadine), Mike (Ruby), Maurice (Wanda), Rick (Gisela), Tony (Brenda); sisters Anna, Loll (Mike), Marg (Doug), Nell, Agnes (Eric), Eileen and Bridgie (Jason); his extended family, brothers-in-law James (Carol), George (Bev) and Wayne (Niki); sisters-in-law Doreen, Vera and Lois and many many wonderful nieces and nephews who loved and adored him. He was a friend to them all. John’s life will be celebrated in Newfoundland by his family back home and as well a celebration of John’s life will take place at the Clubhouse, 1132 Findlay Road, Kelowna, BC on Sunday August 12, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Lengthy phone calls will be missed, that beautiful smile will be remembered, his patience, his friendship and his gentle but protective ways will continue on forever in the hearts of all those who loved him. The gentle giant will share his stories in heaven now and keep the laughter alive.

We are thinking of all of the Martin family, his wife Sharon, his children and their families. Life seems to be continually sending these hurdles our way. We do know for certain that you haven’t lost John, he will continue to participate in every act and decision you make. Try to find comfort in the knowledge that your lives have been enriched by his love and remember he is smiling down on all of you.

To the Martin families. So sorry to hear of John’s passing. Remember all the softball hgames with and against him. We had a lot of good laughs.and the hockey games down at the ball field on the out door rink. Rest in peace until we meet again on the soft ball field in the big land..
Our sincere condolences are sent to all John’s family on the loss of a dear husband, father, and brother. The boys have so many memories of playing ball with John here in Dunville and always considered him one of the best ball players especially first base man. Maurice,
We are thinking of you and your family during this time.
Lots of love!
Because of distance I never got to know my Uncle John as well as I would have liked. I remember as a small child crawling all over him, tugging his beard, and calling him “My Buddy Ol’ Pal”. He never got annoyed… just smiled, laughed, and looked with love in his eyes. He truly was a gentle and warm hearted giant. I know he will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew and loved him.

To all the members of the Martin familiy, I express my deepest sympathies. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
Our sincere condolences to all of the Martin Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. RIP John.
We met John in 2007. We wondered what kind of man wears sweat pants to Thanksgiving dinner. And, we could barely understand him because of his strong Newfie accent. In 2009 we travelled thru the Kootneys with John &Sharon. We got to know this kind, funny, gentle man. We get the sweatpants now John. An uncomplicated man with a “comfortable” approach to life. Work hard and be true to yourself. You will be missed. I am sure you are in heaven& they are all wearing sweats 🙂
Dennis&Jackie. Happy camping
