We Remember

MASON, Douglas Arthur Michael

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and very unexpected passing of Doug Mason on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

Doug is predeceased by the love of his life Eva, who perished in a motor vehicle accident in 2014 just outside of Kelowna, in which Doug sustained life-threatening injuries. With amazing support from the Doctors at Kelowna General Hospital, the amazing staff at Connect in Lake Country, and the tireless efforts by Doug’s daughter Kristina, Doug was able to almost fully recover and enjoyed almost 7 more years in the Okanagan with his family.

Doug is survived by his daughter Kristina (Kevin); son Steven (Liz); and grandchildren Darrian, Dylan, Austin, Jordan, Benjamin, and Evie. Doug is also survived by his siblings and his Mother.

Despite his brain injury, Doug was a volunteer with the Kelowna Rockets, he enjoyed walking around downtown, visiting different coffee shops, and restaurants chit-chatting with anyone and everyone he would meet. Doug was a kind soul. This past Father’s Day during dinner we always did a “worst part best part” and it could be about the day, week, year. Doug’s “best part” was spending Father’s Day with his family and friends, his “worst part” was how much he missed his beloved Eva. Doug was so lonely without Eva at his side, he would often say that when we woke each morning he expected Eva to be beside him, and when she wasn’t he would feel a greater sense of loss every day. Our family is at peace knowing that Doug and Eva are now resting together.

We will miss you, Doug. You had such an impact on our family and our kids, give Eva a big hug for us and be sure to keep a watchful eye on your two wonderful kids and all your grandbabies. RIP

A service will be planned for a later date, family and friends will be notified.
