We Remember
MCADAM, David Ross
August 30, 1947 — March 29, 2023
On March 29, 2023, David McAdam passed away in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 75 years.
Always dressed in black jeans and shirt along with cowboy hat and boots, David was a wealth of knowledge, a lover of history, and had an amazing recall for dates and times of events. His quick wit and excellent sense of humour were used daily as he drove taxi, navigating conversations and routes with equal expertise.
David loved his dog, Bear; reading, playing pool or a good game of chess; and motorcycles, cars, and old movies. He was a Star Wars fan and passed it on to his daughters and grandchildren. He also enjoyed cracking open a Sleemans Original Draught.
In 2021, David moved out west (from Ontario) to be with and to support his daughter and grandsons. In his final year, he struggled with his health, and after 60 years he managed to quit smoking. Despite his efforts, at the beginning of February 2023 he was found to have a large aneurysm in his abdomen. Not wanting to spend his last days in a hospital, David went home to spend his final weeks close with his family. Thankfully, he wasn’t alone at the time of his passing.
David was predeceased by his wife June. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Jelmer) and Karen; grandchildren, Juliette, William, Joshua, Kezia, Isaac, Connor, and Jane; great-grandchildren, Felix and Alexa; his brother, John (Brenda); and sister, Donna.
