We Remember
MCALPINE, Georgia
—
Georgia McAlpine began her life at Prince George Regional Hospital on October 24, 1997. She ended it far too soon, October 4, 2016 in Kelowna, B.C.
Georgia was the sparkle in her mom’s and dad’s eyes from the moment she was born. With an impish grin and stubbornness that knew no bounds, she was always destined to go her own way. As she grew into a young woman, despite the risks and challenges in speaking up for who she was and what she believed, she vowed to fight for what she knew was right, especially when it came to the lives of women and children.
She was prepared to begin that journey shortly after graduating from Kelowna Secondary School in 2015. Unfortunately, the universe had different things in store for her. After years of struggling with the demons inside her, Georgia tragically lost her battle with mental illness last Tuesday.
Georgia’s memory will be cherished by parents Cam McAlpine and Carlene Dingwall, and her big brother Eli. She will forever be loved by Jenny, Steffi, Anton, Kirsten and by the love of her life Eve Wilk. She will be remembered by so many, but especially her many grandparents – Bruce and Barb McAlpine and Garry and Debbie Hartley of Kelowna, and Neil and Elaine Rutherfurd of Auckland – all her aunties and uncles – Scott McAlpine and Isabel Kolic, Trudy and Georgina Dingwall, Della and Kelly Gordon, Brent Dingwall and Kim O’Brien, Lila and Charlie Ross and Mary-Anne MacPherson – dozens of cousins, and so many, many more relatives and friends in Prince George, Kelowna and around the world.
A memorial service and celebration of Georgia’s life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 1:00 pm at the Mission Creek Alliance Church (2091 Springfield Rd., Kelowna, B.C.). All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers or lasagna, we encourage you to donate to the Canadian Mental Health Association in Georgia’s name so fewer people have to endure what she had to. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

Georgia was only a baby when I met her many years ago when I helped her older brother Eli work on some speech sounds… I’m sorry I never met her again as she sounds like she was a remarkable woman! My deepest condolences to Georgia’s entire family, friends, and loved ones. I have been thinking of you and thank you for sharing Georgia’s story.
I am so sorry for your loss Cam and family. I am sure Georgia was an amazing young woman.
Georgia was one of my students in primary school in Prince George. I will always remember her kindness, her laughter and those beautiful dimples. She was a lovely child who cared for her classmates and the adults in the school. My heart is heavy for you Eli, Cam and Carla. May you be comforted in knowing that she is no longer suffering. RIP Georgia.
Dear Cam and family – my thoughts are with you during this sad and difficult time. The loss of a beautiful, young woman like Georgia is truly tragic. May she find the light and rest in peace.
Carlene and family, my heart is heavy, I feel sadness for u, for the loss of one so young and so precious. I pray to the Creator that you will be surrounded by lov and support and that your daughters spirit will always be with you. All My Relations
I love you Georgia! I met some of your family today and I can see why you were the beautiful human that you were. Miss you beyond measure. Cherise
My heartfelt condolences to your family.
Dearest Cam, Jenni, family and Eve Wilk (my former Grade 1 student),
Our hearts broke upon reading Georgia’s obituary in the local paper. She was such a beautiful girl who was truly blessed to have all of you in her life. May you cherish the happy memories of Georgia and be comforted in knowing that you are in our thoughts and prayers throughout this very difficult time. With love, Julie Fiorentino & Mike Figurski
So sad to hear of Georgia’s death. Our hearts grieve along with friends and family. There is comfort and hope in what Revelation 21:4 says “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Also John 5:28 “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth;” What a happy time that will be when death will be replaced with resurrections and Georgia will live again. Although these thoughts do not take away the grief at present; may Gods Word be a source of comfort for you and your family.
