McGarrigle, Dorothy
July 13, 1918 — January 18, 2012
Dorothy B. McGarrigle was born in Vancouver, BC July 13, 1918 and passed away in Kelowna on Jauary 18, 2012 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1994, her parents Dr. James and May Jervis and sister Connie Winter of Langley, BC. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her daughter Monica of Victoria, BC, nephews Jim (Nancy) Winter, Jack (Kay) McGarrigle and Len (Verna) Amstutz, nieces Barbara Winter, Peggy (Clive) McLay, Maureen McGarrigle, Patricia Janischewski, cousins Gerry Likely and Margaret Leahy and all their families. Also by her ‘adopted’ daughters Gita Bruce and Jennifer Murn and their families, special friends Grace Ripley, Joyce Bradshaw, the Blais/Brule family of Fort St John and the MacLeod family of 100 Mile House. Dorothy was blessed by many wonderful friendships throughout her life, they brought her great joy. The family would like to extend their thanks to the caring people of Hawthorn Park where she enjoyed many wonderful years of active living, as well as Dr. Alan Hignell and the personnel of Kelowna General Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, please extend a kind word or helping hand to someone in her memory. If you would like to make a donation to a charity you may wish to know Dorothy was actively involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Charles Garnier Parish. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, BC.

We have worked so closely in the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul with her over the last eleven years so we know of her devotion and commitment to this cause. I’ll really miss your mom Monica. Her kind gentle spirit made her lap a favorite visiting place for my girls! Marnie, Dave and I were very lucky to grow up with a bonus Gramma. Lots of love to you throughout this difficult time and always.
