We Remember
McIntyre, Dora Ivy
—
Passed away peacefully on Jan. 21, 2013 at the age of 90 years in Kelowna B.C. Survived by her two daughters Glenna Louise Gillan (Art) of Kelowna, Jo-Anne McIntyre Harris (Steve) of Victoria, grandson Andrew Gillan of Kelowna and granddaughter Megan Harris of Limerick, Ireland. Sadly Predeceased by her husband Harold Neil McIntyre in 1995. Dolly as she was affectionately know by all that knew her had a real sense of adventure. In 1945 she was a member of the Kamloops Hiking Club and joined them on a climb to the top of Mt. Robson. The adventures continued throughout her life. Due to the fact we were a navy family mother made sure we got to travel and that we did. In later years mother bought a round the world ticket on TWA and touch down on all 6 continents in 68 days. In the following years after that trip she continued to travel extensively throughout the world up until 1998 her last trip was to India. Mother was very active both Henderson Recreation Centre and Montrey Recreation Centre. For many years she volunteered to run the movies at Montrey Centre. She made many friends over the years and one special friend Diana. Mother got her last wish to be with her eldest daughter Glenna and family for Christmas this year. A celebration of her life will be held next summer in Kelowna.
I am so sorry about your loss Glenna. I remember your Mum with deep affection. She was such a smart lady and a beautiful seamstress. i have known her for a long time.

Dolly was a member of a small Art group that met on Wednesdays for many years. I am also a member; we rotated homes each week, and were able to really get to know Dolly. We loved her very much, really enjoyed her participation every week…she drove herself until just a few years ago. Then, one of us would pick her up and take her home after lunch.
Dolly was so bright, interesting, kind, fun to be with. She dressed with style, often coordinated from her shoes to her earrings. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious.
We will miss her. Please accept our deepest condolences. We are comforted to know that she was with her family at the end of her long adventurous life.
Sincerely, Thelma Brooks
Dolly was our neighbour on Lawndale for a number of years. She was a hoot! Always fun to talk to. She will be missed.
