We Remember
MEIER, Charlotte Ella Ruth
March 23, 1920 — January 13, 2014
Went into the arms of the Lord on January 13, 2014 at the age of 93 years. Survived by her son Rae (Gail) of Kelowna; daughter Carol (Bruce) Macdonald of Calgary; five grandchildren: Allison (Marcus), Colleen, Daniel, Bradley and Michael; one great grandson Grayson; sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews. Charlotte found It very sad to be the last surviving member of her family, as she was not the youngest. Predeceased by her parents; her husband Harold; three brothers: John, Herman and Ron; six sisters: Ilsa, Alma, Kate, Carrie, Helen and Emma; as well as an infant son Ronald Harold. Charlotte was born on a farm in Saskatchewan on March 23, 1920. Married at St. John’s Lutheran Church on November 22, 1942 at Edenwald, SK. They lived in Balgonie, where she worked at the municipal office. In 1960, they moved to Davidson, where she had several accounting office jobs (Con’s Construction, Co-op and the doctor’s office). They retired to Saskatoon in 1975, then moved to Kelowna, BC in 1978. Charlotte was a loving and giving woman of God. She was known for her immaculate appearance, always wearing dresses or suits with matching accessories. She loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess. Everyone will remember her for her wonderful cooking and “to die for” baking. Charlotte was talented at knitting, sewing and crocheting. She loved to dance, play bridge and to be with her family and friends, but most of all spoiling her grandchildren. We will miss you Grandma! Special thanks to the staff at both Missionwood and Laurier Manor for their care and kindness.. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 11:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home located at 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church (Memorial Fund), General Delivery, Zehner, Saskatchewan, S0G 5K0. Dear Rae, Gail, Carol, Bruce and families. We are saddened at your Mom’s passing and to know that we have now lost the last member of that generation of the Brodts. We hope that the many fond memories you have of your Mom/Grandma will bring you comfort in this challenging time. Anyone who stayed with your Mom & Dad over they years will recall her getting up very early to ensure that she had fresh baking to go with the monster breakfast she served. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sharmaine & Brian Meier
Dear Rae, Gail, Carol, Bruce and families. I was sad to hear that Aunt Charlotte had passed. When I think of Aunt Charlotte, I think of real cherry pie and fresh baked bread, and pearls. And not needing an excuse to look lovely. I have so many wonderful memories of her visits back to Regina with Grandma Lorraine, and us going to Kelowna. She never was one to let age slow her down! I know she will be missed by anyone who knew her, but someone as special as her will not be forgotten. Take care.
Carol, Bruce, Rae, Gail and families.
Heartfelt condolences on the loss of a very special mom, grandmother and great grandmother. I hope that your many fond memories will comfort you in the months ahead.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Meier and Brodt families. Charlotte was a wonderful family friend dating back to when her and my dad went to school together. Imagine our surprise when they ended up being neighbours at Missionwood! I have wonderful memories of the stories those two would tell and their crazy card games! May you find peace in knowing she touched many hearts. I can only imagine the welcome she got in heaven !
