We Remember
MENDEL, Hans
—
The family of Hans Mendel (Opa) wish to announce the celebration of 92 years of an active, full and wonderful life. Hans was a gentle, generous, and hard working soul who loved gardening, hockey and being outdoors. The most important thing in his life was his family whom he loved dearly. He is remembered by his loving children Robert, James (Donna), Jackie (Dave Pattison); his grandchildren Cassandra, Harrison, Thomas and Griffin; nieces, nephews, sister Clara and friends. Hans was predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa, of 61 years, in September 2011.
Hans’ life centered around his family, as he set and lived an example of patience, honor and faith. While raising their children Hans and Theresa ran the Kelowna Tobacco Store. He will be remembered for volunteering hundreds of hours helping others, especially at KGH where he proudly wore his red jacket for almost 20 years.
He will be deeply missed by many and forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the KGH Foundation. Prayers will be recited Monday, Dec. 29 at 7:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road. A Mass will be held Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at 10:30 am at St Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, BC. I am sorry to hear of Hans passing. I knew Hans when he would come to Still Waters Private Hospital to help with the orderly work. He was always happy and the residents appreciated him. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word. Every time I met him it was a pleasure. He was a good man!
Our Deepest sympathies to all the family.
, Opa was a wonderful friend, and will be sadly missed. Walter and Lou Rybachuk.
Dear Mendel family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. We enjoyed reading the obituary which was written as a celebration of a hard working, proud, family man, who gave graciously to many.
Our best to all the family.

Hans and Theresa were my good neighbours for almost twenty years when they lived on Nottingham Rd. I have fond memories of them and that time.
Condolences to the family. We will deeply miss our friend and neighbor. His morning walks and chats will no longer enrich our lives.
Jim, Donna and family,
So sorry to hear of the passing of your father and grandfather.Only time will heal your sorrow.
Thinking of you,
Carole and Maryo
We extend our sincere condolences to the Mandel family. Hans, like his wife Theresa, was a Volunteer extraordinaire! Always prepared to help and always with a smile. We recall the huge number of apple pies Theresa donated to the annual Blossom Time Fair. Who knows how many apples Hans peeled in order to make those pies? Hans and Theresa may be gone, but they will never be forgotten by those who Volunteered along side them. Bless them both as they are reunited.
