We Remember
MENZIES, John (Jack) Cleveland
March 30, 1941 — March 31, 2014
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jack Menzies announce the passing of their husband, father, uncle, brother and brother-in-law in Kelowna, BC on March 31, 2014 at the age of 73. Jack is lovingly remembered by his soul mate and wife, Lee Menzies, daughters and daddy’s girls: Erin Podmorow and Kelly Bedford, his son-in-laws Tom Podmorow and Jason Bedford, grandchildren: Kylah Podmorow, Quinn Podmorow and Leyton Bedford, who were the absolute joys of his life. He also leaves behind his brother Dave Menzies, sister-in-law Brenda Ingwersen, (Ron), sister-in-law Margretta Murney, and his nieces and nephews who were all special to Uncle Jack. He was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Maude Menzies, brother Robert Menzies, sister Lois Kerr, brother-in-law Jim Kerr and nephew Allen Menzies. Jack was born in Nokomis, SK and was raised on a farm in Semans, SK. He worked as a plumber in his early career, then as a mechanic and truck driver for Kelowna Ready Mix for over 30 years. He was truly a “Jack of all trades”. If you needed something fixed, modified, built, anything, he was your man. Over his life he touched many people and became friends with all he met. He leaves many friends behind to mourn his loss, especially his “little buddy” and best friend Mark Laurie (Dianne). He was a family man who taught us love and respect and to always have a good laugh at yourself. His funny stories and hearty laugh will be missed and remembered forever. Special thanks to the staff at KGH (ER, ICU, 4W, 3E), Dr. Ketch, Dr. Sarbit, Work Safe BC (Barry Ennis) and We Care or all of their support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either www.areafund.ca (Asbestos Related Research Education and Advocacy Fund) or to the KGH Foundation, 2268 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 1T2. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. I have had an uneasy feeling for the last three days every time I drive by your place and when I saw Jack’s obituary in the paper it confirmed what I was feeling. My deepest sympathies to you Lee and your family during this very sorrowful time. You both made us feel welcome when we moved in here and I know John enjoyed his little chats with Jack and appreciated his help with some of his little projects. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Lee, We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
