We Remember
MICHIE, Alexander Gordon
April 5, 1949 — December 29, 2021
Alex Michie passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2021, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 72.
Born in 1949 to proud parents John & Ethel in Vancouver, BC, Alex grew up alongside siblings John and D’arci. Alex is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Gai; his children Lane (Nina) and Hannah (Will); grandchild, Josie; sister, D’arci (Steve); sister-in-law, Bonnie; nieces and nephews; and friends who became family. He was infinitely proud of his wife and children, and his legacy will live on through them.
At a young age, his love for music was born. Alex’s passion for music led him to an exciting career in the music industry as a beloved member of various bands, including the R&B Allstars. His instrument of choice was saxophone and often played as a smooth and melodic soloist. Passion for music brought Alex cherished lifelong friends; he was well respected in the Vancouver music scene and spoke often of playing with talented musicians from around the world.
In 1989, he began his real estate career in Burnaby, which brought him and his family to Kelowna in 1991.
Alex and his wife, Gai, established an award-winning real estate career together. Alex established himself in every facet of real estate, which lead him to becoming a broker, and it complimented his love of being social. Together, many of their clients became friends.
Alex will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, warm, and charming man, forever known for giving great hugs. He was loved and respected by so many.
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to family and friends who have reached out with kind words and stories of Alex.

Alex will be missed by all. He was a well respected realtor and friend to many. Karen and I always enjoyed the brief time we spent with both he and Gai. He was a true professional as a realtor and was often helping and supporting new realtors at Remax. Our condolence go out to Gai and all of his family.
My Dear Friend Alex …… loved your friendship, loved your playing, loved the laughs, loved it when you and
Gai became real estate tycoons. You’ve always “Had it Going On” ….. You’re joining the horn section in the sky. Give’m a little Maceo on the alto.
J.P.
Dear Gai..
“Arms around you “from both of us…
We always enjoyed our friendship…
Marvyn and Penny Baker.
Our hearts are saddened by the passing of one of our most favourite people of all time, Alex. He was the best hug giver, EVER. People that know him would tell you the same thing. He always knew how to make someone smile, to make them feel good, to make them feel special.
We met Alex and Gai when we started to look to buy our first house about 9 years ago. We saw lots of houses but we will never forget the moment when we pulled in the driveway of a potential house, to see Alex standing in the doorway wearing his Hawaiian T-shirt with a BIG smile on his face. “This is the one!” He was right.
We have been friends ever since. Our sincerest condolences go out to Gai and family. I am sure the pups are so happy to see him.
You are in our hearts, always
Laura, Derreck & Layla
