We Remember
MILLER, Irene Della Mable
April 23, 1941 — October 26, 2023
Born to parents, John “Dan” and Elsie Ward, in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, in 1941, Irene Miller passed away surrounded by family on October 26, 2023, in Kelowna, BC.
Irene was the only girl on the farm in a family full of brothers: Harvey, Gordon, Les, and Larry. She grew up tough as nails and as tender-hearted as they come. By the time she could reach the counters, she learned how to make breakfast for the family.
Irene met, and then married, the love of her life, Norm Miller, in 1959. They moved to Prince George, BC, finally settling in Kelowna, BC, in 1977.
She spent many years with her husband Norm by her side. The faithful co-pilot of his truck and trailer and the apple of his eye. They spent many days thrifting, camping, and going on drives. She enjoyed gardening and looking at creation. She had a real fondness for roses, especially if they were red or pink. Cats were a creature that she enjoyed, especially Charlie, the latest and last one she had. She cared for him until she couldn’t any longer, and made sure to secure a loving home for him.
Irene was a fierce woman who was faithful to the Lord in all she did. She was a real prayer warrior and would drop anything to pray with you. Her earnest faith and trust in Jesus is a legacy that she left for her family, friends, and everyone she encountered. She would often sing “When We All Get to Heaven” in the car and speak wistfully of the day we would all be reunited with those who have gone before. We now eagerly await the day when we join you, Irene. We will sing this song in your absence and be reminded of the joy that you had of the eternal promise of Heaven.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Allan (Lori), Russel (Dawn), and Sally (Mike); grandchildren Cherri (Curtis), Jonathan, Nathan, Justin (Jess), and Kaitlynn (Graeme); 7 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her large, beloved, extended family.
The family would like to thank the team at Springvalley Care Centre for their care and love of Irene. It made a world of difference.
A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM, in the Family Centre at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.

Hello to the Miller family: I was sad to see your Mom’s obituary this evening, while looking for another person I knew. Your mom made such an impression on me. So kind, so warm and her lovely laugh. What a wonderful legacy she has left through each of you, and she is where she was destined to be. Hugs to you all.
Grama Miller will be missed. Every day I have a new memory come to mind of all the moments we spent together. I will miss those days with all my heart. I am thankful to have these memories and I am sure my family is holding on to those moments that now live in our hearts and minds. I am so happy that you are not hurting anymore.
