MILLIGAN, Grant Douglas

Grant Milligan passed away at his home in Kelowna, BC on Oct. 19, 2016 at 60 years of age. He was born on May 19, 1956 in Edmonton to Doug and Audrey Milligan who both predeceased him. He attended McKernan Junior High and Strathcona High School then worked for CPR for almost 40 years, mostly in Edmonton, as a proud member of the Teamsters union. Grant loved the outdoors, hiking, boating, hunting, cars, motorcycles, hobby drag racing, shooting pool, the simple pleasures of life and his cat Tigger. Grant will be fondly remembered for his larger-than-life personality, sense of humour, charm, comradery, zest for adventure, hard work ethic and enjoying good times with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched. Grant’s remains have been cremated and he requested no service.

My sincere condolences to Grants family. I truly lost a life time friend, two grey cup games (Toronto, Montreal), camping & hunting trips , and so many laughs with friends. My wife Linda always said he was a true gentlemen, kind and sincere. Never to be forgotten in our memories.
Thanks Bert, it means allot to our entire family, I know you were a good friend to Grant and he liked you a lot. I was going to call you later but will do that at a later date.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Grant’s passing. We spent many many happy times together through high school, out at the Limberdick in Evansburg, and here in Edmonton until he moved. He was quietly so funny and he always treated me like a gentleman. My sincere condolences to all of you. The world is a little darker for his loss.
Laurie, thanks for your kind words and thoughts of Grant, I know he thought allot of you and enjoyed the friendship you shared. Are family appreciates the condolences.

Our deepest condolences to the Milligan family on the passing of Grant, a long-time childhood Belgravia/McKernan neighbor and friend. My sister, Agnes DeMarco, and I last spent time with Grant at Brad Greenwood’s funeral, sadly, here, in Edmonton. It was great to see him looking as fit and handsome as he had always been; thus, his passing comes as a shock. The attached photos are from that day. May your beloved Grant rest peacefully now in God’s arms, and may God bless you all through this trying time. Eva
Thanks Agnes appreciate your kind words and thoughts, means allot to our family.
Regards Mark Milligan
Always a fun guy to work with, your jaw would be sore by the end of the day from the laughter!! He was a great railroader, but even better man. Gonna miss you bro at the retirement dues, was always a pleasure to see you again. As I sit here in the siding after reading your obit, I just can imagine how short the wait would seem if you were here with me. Rip bro, till we meet again….CJ
Rest in peace Milly remembering all the good times at work and other wise.
A lot of laughs during the few short years I knew him…… he made going to work much more enjoyable. It’s been a pleasure and honour to know him. Rest in Peace Grant.
Lorna, Mark and Wayne I am saddened by the loss of your brother. Grant was a good friend and Union Brother. Our railroading days spanned 38 years together, the stories, the laugher, the highs the lows, and the thousands of hours we worked with each other. It was a pleasure to walk off the property with him on February 07,2012 and I will always remember the Man hug we had thanking each other for being there. I miss you Little Buddy and till our tracks cross again Rest in Peace.

Grant will always hold a special place in my heart . He was the coolest of the cool dudes ! He showed me great love and friendship and support after my divorce in the 1980s and I will always cherish and respect my memories of Grant. Peaceful journey my friend! Much love- Agnes
Sincere condolences, big empty space in many hearts…Milly you left too soon. I have so many great memories , I can’t think of many friends I had so many good times with. Reconnected recently and it was as if 40 plus years dropped away and we were fearless teenagers again…you’ll be missed but never forgotten.
Grant will be missed for sure. My deepest condolences to his brothers and sister. I spent many a time with Grant from when we first met in Grade 10 and shared many a laugh.
