We Remember
MITSCHKE, Glen Kenneth
November 20, 1931 — August 3, 2023
It is with great sadness, we announce that Glen Mitschke passed, at the age of 91, on August 3, 2023.
Born on the family farm of Max and Mabel Mitschke in Langenberg, Saskatchewan, Glen was the 10th of 15 siblings. In 1952, Glen met the love of his life, Rita. Glen moved to Calgary, AB in 1953 to work as an Auto-body Service Technician. Rita followed a year later, they married, and raised 3 children. In 1964, they moved to Eugene, Oregon for work; moving back to Calgary a year later. They moved again in 1968 to Kelowna, BC while still raising the family.
Glen enjoyed camping with family; loved buying, fixing, and selling vehicles; and having a cold beer on hot summer days! Once retired, they enjoyed the winters in Yuma. They spent their later years living in a suite that Rod and Deb had built for them. Glen enjoyed helping Deb look after the farm, as much a Deb loved looking after Mom and Dad in the later years. He was known by everyone whose lives he touched as being sweet, kind, and gentle. He will be missed dearly by everyone.
Thanks to the staff at Lake Country Lodge for the great care and compassion you’ve shown to Glen and the family!
Glen was predeceased by his loving wife, Rita; his son-in-law, Rod Lang; as well as his siblings Vera, Gilbert, Sadie, Rudy, Bea, Lyle, Jean, Joyce, Shirley, Joan, and Jess. He is survived by siblings Marg, Cliff, and Barb; children Jo-Ann Moe, Ken (Cindy), and Debbie Lang (Bill); grandchildren Tania (Chad), CJ (Amanda), Jason (Michelle), Ryan (Tanya), Sheldon, and Shantelle (Jordin); and great-grandchildren Asher, Cody, Addy, Hugh, Jorja, Ava, Slade, Fritz, and Heinz.
