We Remember
MOCHENSKI, Jean “Shenah”
September 17, 1951 — August 7, 2026
On Friday, August 7, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, Jean “Shenah” Mochenski passed away at Central Okanagan Hospice House.
Shenah leaves behind one of her dearest friends, René. She will also be sadly missed by her close friends Kohbi, Doris, and Michelle; by friends Tom and Mike from Ontario; by her cousins Larry, Dennis, and Marnie; by her niece Natalie; and by her brother Peter.
Jean was born in St. Catharines, Ontario. She worked as a registered nurse in ICU and as a surgical nurse for many years. There she made lifelong friends, including Cathy, Maria, Sue, Irene, Velda, Althea, Diane, and more.
In Burnaby, BC, she continued her career and was an avid outdoor enthusiast, a member of hiking clubs, and loved skiing.
In Kelowna, British Columbia, Shenah belonged to Mission Creek Alliance Church for many years. Her relationship with Jesus was really important to her, and she was thankful for the love and care from the people of her church. She was also a good neighbour and will be dearly missed in her community.
For many years, Shenah enjoyed playing tennis, badminton, and pickleball, participating regularly and competing in numerous tournaments. She even organized a tournament herself. Her many other passions included gardening, art, horses, travel, and basking in the sun. Shenah was a devoted dog lover and a dedicated volunteer and donor to organizations supporting dogs in need. Above all, she cherished the memories made with friends and loved ones during her travels.
Shenah was deeply loved by all who knew her and touched the lives of so many. Her free spirit, warmth, generosity, and kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who cared for and supported Shenah during her battle with cancer.
Memorial donations in memory of Shenah may be sent to the BC SPCA.
