We Remember

MORELJ, Dosolina (Lina)
March 31, 1925 — February 26, 2016
Our beautiful mom Lina, went to eternal sleep on February 26, 2016 in Kelowna, BC. She was predeceased by her Louis in March of 2014. She continues to be present with us through her son Walter (wife Donna, granddaughter Susan) of Kelowna, son Francis (wife Larissa) of Santa Rosa, California. Our mom Lina was born in Rosalina, Italy, outside of Venice, moving to Torino where she enjoyed her new career as personal secretary while traveling throughout Europe. With her two sisters and a brother and along with 3 half-sisters and brother, Lina lived a full life in Italy. She survived the war and the start of the rebuilding of Italy, but after having received a letter from her boyfriend Louis, to come to meet him in the new land of Canada, she left her extended family and Italy on the Saturnia, arriving at Pier 21- Halifax March 15, 1956. She continued on to Thunder Bay, Ontario where she married her Louis and there she had her sons Walter and Francis, building a new life. In 1986 Lina and Louis retired to Kelowna where Lina enjoyed the Okanagan and participated in the Kelowna Italian Club as Vice President while enjoying outings at the local bowling alleys and attending to visitors from Thunder Bay and Europe. Lina lived the unhurried life as a retiree and was blessed with one grandchild, Susan. With this, she took up her role as grandmother with enthusiasm and joy. She continued to love and care for her family and for the last 2 years she called Spring Valley Care Centre home, making new friends until the end. She will be missed by the many who knew her and her passing will leave a huge void in the hearts and lives of her remaining family but we know she will reconnect with her Louis and other family members and will always be looking out for us from above. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, March 1st, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. A Graveside Service will follow on Wednesday, March 2nd at 11:30 am at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC. So sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. My Mom, Therese Larmand was a “table mate” of LIna’s at Spring Valley Care Center. My husband Bruce and I have spent many mealtimes being enchanted by your Mom’s wonderful laugh and endless story telling in Italian. We didn’t understand a word, but we would laugh along with her (how could you not, it was a wonderful laugh!) We too will miss her prescence and her joy. May God give your family peace in this difficult time.
On behalf of myself and the rest of the Nanci family, we would like to offer our condolences on your mother’s passing. She was a wonderful woman, so full of life and energy; and a joy to be around. It has been many years since we have been surrounded by her presence but our memories are vivid and joyful. May God’s grace ease your family’s time of sorrow. Her spirit will always be with you…
Hello Aunt Lina , one last hug . I will not forget you.
Your niece Marisa from Bolzano ( Italy )
Ciao Zia Lina, I will always have a special memory of you, for your brave and adventurous life. Even living so far away from us you was able to make us feel your attention, your presence. I still store jealously several Magazines you sent to me when I was a kid, aware of my passions and interests. A special care I never forgot.
A last kiss from your nephew Maurizio and my family Luisa, Davide and Giorgia (Italy – UK)
