We Remember
MOSS, Joyce
—
Joyce passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, one day after her 99th birthday. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Cliff, in 2008. Left to treasure her memory are her children Ken Moss (Judy Wong), and Brenda Hamm (Abe d. 2020); grandson A.J. Moss (Andrea Luk); and all those whose lives Joyce touched.
Joyce was a homemaker, a caregiver, and a volunteer. She especially loved caring for children and was a primary teacher’s classroom helper, a daycare aide, a babysitter, and for many years, a volunteer at the Vancouver Children’s Hospital.
Travel was one of Joyce’s pleasures from the family camping trips around B.C., to the trips with Cliff to Great Britain and beyond. Going by rail was her favourite, and she made many trips back to Ontario to visit family.
Always happiest when she was around people, Joyce was an active member of the SandPointe community and, in later years, of the Sandalwood Retirement Residence. Whether it was cooking for fowl suppers, baking for coffee parties, or joining in for the movies and happy hours, Joyce was an eager participant.
Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff who cared for our Mom, our Grandma, at the Village at Mill Creek.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.
