We Remember
MUNSON, Lionel Archie
April 26, 1948 — August 9, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce on August 9, 2024, the unexpected passing of Lionel Munson, who fought courageously despite knowing his battle could not be won. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Angela, who was by his side when he passed. He is deeply missed by his daughter Yvonne, son David, and his grandchildren Angelina and Cole, as well as his brother Terry, in-laws, cousins, nieces & nephews, and his close friends.
Lionel was truly one of a kind, A man of honour. He was adventurous and enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He had a deep respect for animals and nature. He cherished his furry friends: Billy, Nanuk, Dakota, Lily, Harvey, Vienna, Niko, and Asland, and of course his beloved friend Milo, who was also with him to the end.
Lionel spent 22 years in the forest industry, working in remote areas along the coast, including Haida Gwaii and Knight Inlet. He lived and worked in Powell River for many years before transitioning to the heavy construction industry as an Operating Engineer (Local 115). He contributed to large projects in BC, including the ALRT in Vancouver (the SkyTrain). He also worked with Gwil Cranes and Bosa Construction in Vancouver.
Lionel will be remembered for his leadership qualities and strong work ethic, his vibrant spirit and the deep love he shared with his family, friends, and all his beloved dogs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lange; The hospital staff; as well as the doctors and nurses on the third floor west at the Strathcona building; as well as Hospice House Kelowna for their care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Okanagan Humane Society.

To Angie, we cannot say how sad we are to know of Lionel’s passing. He was such a great guy, good husband and friend to so many, and always a very hard worker and provider. We will miss him. Our love from Pam and Don
