We Remember
MURDOCH, Frank Douglas
—
It is with sadness that we advise of the passing of Frank Murdoch on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. A resident of Kelowna since 1978, Frank was 82 years old at the time of his death. Frank would soon have celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary to his wife Doreen; was Dad to their five children: Don (Jill) Murdoch of Kelowna, Janet (Gerry) Gordon of Osoyoos, Susan (Ernst, deceased) Lueger of Kampsteiner, Schwaig, Austria, Meghan (Bill) Wade of Kamloops and Heather (Michael) Cairns of Toronto. Frank was “Poppa” to eleven grandchildren and “Great Poppa” to two great granddaughters.
Also known to his many Okanagan golf buddies as “Fearless,“ Frank was always ready for a game and enjoyed the long season that an Okanagan lifestyle allowed. December has always been a special time of year for Dad and his joy and giving during the holiday season will be an important legacy we will carry on in his absence. We are left to treasure the memories of a grand life well lived.
We will be forever grateful for the wonderful care provided by Sun Pointe Village, in particular the Reid’s Corner team, for these past five years. A Celebration of Memories for family and friends is planned for Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Harvest Golf Club, 2725 KLO Road, Kelowna, BC from 1:30 – 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to the Alzheimer Society or to your preferred seasonal charity in remembrance of Frank. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

Hi Murdochs – I am so sorry to hear about Frank’s passing…He was always such a kind and generous person. I can still recall his 60th birthday party where his theatre-colleagues treated him to an adaption of ‘If I were a Rich Man” and sung ‘If I were a Golf Pro’. Good memories! This must be a very difficult time for all of you. Take care. Aaron Kueng

Dear Doreen — and there we were chatting about Frank at YLW on Wednesday. Our special thoughts and blessings are with you know as you begin the next journey in your “Book of Life”. We have so many fond memories of working with him with TKS.
as he was such a great and talented man. His voice was amazing and because he didn’t want the “Fiddler” gang to break up, he created that fabulous group of singers. Love and hugs and special blessings. Sharon and Eugene Leveque
Don, Jill and family: So sorry to hear of your dad’s passing, Don. You’ve inherited the ‘Fearless’ from your dad, at least in the golf that I know of. My heart is with you.
We are so sorry to hear of Frank’s passing. The years of heart warming memories will remain with us all. Clear Lake always holds special memories of our family times with the GREAT Murdoch Clan. Boating, midnight stargazing, new puppies, New Years at Elk Horn, family cruises to wonderful picnic destinations, dock time, singing and organ playing till the wee hours in the morning and the wonderful “toast to the bride” at our wedding.
Frank, today I will “tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree” in your memory.
Doreen, Don, Janet, Susan, Megan, Heather, and families, please know that our thoughts are with you all and pray that your happy memories will help you through the times of sorrow.
With much love and respect,
Miss Barbs, (as your dad called me)

Dear Murdoch Family, I am very saddened to hear of your dad’s passing. Growing up in Dauphin, your entire family played a large part in my life that I will never forget. To this day, Susan remains a cherished friend. I offer my deepest condolences during this sad time.
Love, Cynthia
Heather and family,
Thinking of you all at this time. Heather I have so many fond memories of your family. I remember one time we were hanging out at your house and there was a strange noise and commotion coming from outside, we ran to see what was going on and it was dad trying to “take care/take out” the squirrels that were causing damage to your house, it was so funny he shot a hole right through your house. It still makes me laugh out loud. He really was ‘fearless’. Hugs to you all. Deanna
Don, Jill and family, so very sorry to hear of Frank’s passing. Our thoughts are with you all and know that happy memories get you through the tough times.
Dear Doreen,
I was saddened to hear of Frank’s passing. Frank was such fun. Everything he did was with other people in mind. He was a big man with an even bigger heart. You and your family will miss him so much. Take good care of each other and cherish the years of memories.
With much love and compassion,
Betty Urness

To Doreen, Don and family. I first met Frank in 1989 my first year at Gallaghers. We had so many fun rounds of golf with Frank, Dark Eyes (Norm Assam) and Ralph Stinson. Frank was always so upbeat and fun, never one to waste time complaining. I remember him volunteering at many events helping with park-mutual betting, always gave great advise on which teams to bet on. He will be missed, by many.
Doreen…I was so sorry to hear that Frank had passed away. I’ll be thinking of you and your family today and I can only imagine some of the great stories that will be shared today……I’m sorry I can’t be there to share in your celebration of Frank…………..Candy
