We Remember

NAPIER, Berit Synøve (Mysen)
—
In loving memory of
Berit Synøve (Mysen) Napier
Place of birth, Oslo Norway June 18th 1944.
Passed away April 4th 2018 in Kelowna B.C. at age 73
Daughter of Solveig and Reidar Zahl. Loving mother of Marianne Vissers and Reidar Mysen. Mother in law of Eric Vissers husband of Marianne Vissers and Gry-Merete Laugerud wife of Reidar Mysen. Sister of Erik Zahl and surviving sister of Rigmor Merally. Grandmother of Markus and Tomas Vissers. “Babi” to brothers Rockland, Kazlo and Benton Leong. Loving and dear friend to many, Ardis Hocevar and Ronda Leong being the closest.
Berit was proud of her roots and upbringing in Oslo, Norway – an early life filled with outdoor adventures, skiing, figure skating, scouts and thriving youth activity in the Methodist church, together with her little sister Rigmor and elder brother Erik. Her love for vast nature and her restless and adventurous soul were amongst the things that brought her to North America. Berit was a creative spirit attuned to the ever-changing currents of design and fashion. She thrived in her fashion boutique “Berit’s Fashion Gallery” in Edgemont Village North Vancouver during the 80’s. Her love for beauty was contrasted with a toughness, hardiness and work ethic few could match. She often attributed her tenacity to following her brother Erik in sports. To join him and his friends she would not complain; she would only “grin and Berit”. Her toughness also landed her in construction, where she enjoyed both the work as a machine operator and “taking care of her boys”. Berit found a home, loving colleagues and great friends in a time of need at the Everglades in Mission B.C. This move brought her together with her bff Ardis. Berit became a part of Ardis’s extended family and a second grandma, “Babi”, to the grandchildren. After her retirement Berit moved to Kelowna, where she found a community of friends she cared for very much. She loved her families at the church and in the coffee shops. She was amongst the brightest of lights and her unique spirit will live on in all who knew her.

Thinking of you all today, as I know this day will be hard. Mar, your mom was such a kind person. I will always remember her fun, loving huge spirit! She loved to laugh! You look so much like your mom, same beautiful smile. Hugs,
I only met Berita about seven or eight years so, but whenever we all got together she was always there with the brightest smile I have ever seen. Berita was so friendly to everyone, it was very easy to talk to her, and a real joy to know her. She will be missed, but our thoughts will be with her always.
Thinking about you today and wish we could be there with you to celebrate Berit’s life and all the smiles she so lovingly shared with all those around her. Our deepest condolences to you and all the family.
